Since their beginning in 2012, our two friends have never hidden their ambitions: to make their place at the national top while trying to win a few national victories. Let's face it directly, their association is like a dream: Damien Baert is indeed a master in the art of preparing his pigeons and he knows exactly what to do at the right time. Concerning Roger Debusschere, he is one of the biggest pigeon collectors in Europe. During his professionnal life, as manager of a car concession, he always had an eye for the details as well as a pronounced taste for perfection. Once retired, these characteristics have not left him when he made up his mind to invest his time and his money in the pigeon sport.
His dream was to bring together exceptional birds, all of them being bred from the most prestigious lines of the world. Of course, these pigeons need to answer to some physical criteria but they also need to come out from the noblest genetic material possible. After he invested heavily in the best pigeons available on the market, Roger Debusschere became the owner of one of the most impressive collection of Europe, a collection he christened as the Royal Collection. He only had to find a top fancier able to obtain the full performance of these pigeons, both at racing & breeding level. That's how Roger proposed to Damien to join him in this adventure after he impressed him during a simple visit.
An exceptionnal breeding loft: the 'Royal Collection'
As you probably guessed, the biggest quality of the partnership Baert-Debusschere is his breeding loft. When you can boast that you are owner of two Belgian national winners, you quickly summarize the situation. The first one is called Mexence', the first pigeon to materialize the ambition of Roger and Damien after he won the 1st national Tulle against 5,976 old pigeons in 2014, which remains up until now the biggest victory won by the partnership.
The second national winner of this fantastic breeding team is called Smart Louie, a pigeon bred and raced by Louis Van Paesschen where he won the 1st national Bourges against 30,180 youngsters in 2014. He was also the fastest pigeon of the 48,306 birds entered in this race. He joined the breeding team of Roger Debusschere after his national triumph. A good opportunity for Roger Debusschere who decided to buy him along with his parents. A good way to achieve your goal!
In addition to these two national winners, Roger Debusschere stayed constantly focused on the opportunities of the market, always under the guidance of the Damien's expert hands and that's how he purchased pigeons coming from the hottest lines of the pigeon planet. That's how you can find pigeons directly obtained from Steveninck (line of Chipo, Chihaut, Guéret, etc), a dozen of Van de Wouwer (lines of Barbara, Kaasboer, Noor, etc), several Geerinckx (lines of Luc, Just Wait, etc) and also some Hugo Vlaeminck.
For the marathon races, Roger and Damien trusted the pigeons of Hebberecht (Champion, VIP) as well as those from Batenburg with a.o. two children of the awesome New Laureaat. A true royal collection that rightly bears her name! But what can we say about this group of more than seventy pigeons directly obtained from the loft of Gaby Vandenabeele? These birds were all bred out of the most famous pigeons from the great master of Dentergem. A five star collection, probably one of the most impressive in the world, from which the descendants already proved to be essential in the racing loft of Damien. In any case, here is a short summary of the results won this year in various championships:

In 2015, the Baert-Debusschere young guard booked some incredible performances in the racing loft at Ere. At the local level, in the sprint and middle distance races, their domination had been exceptionnal with several excellent performances.
