A report on the provisional result of the British Barcelona Club race from St Philbert on 2nd July 2022

John & Teresa Gladwin
92 member sent 1,297 pigeons to St Philbert with the British Barcelona Club. They were liberated at 08.30CEST. The following is a report on the provisional result based on members' verifications.
Sophie Boy

Gladwin, Jarvis and Family of Leigh on Sea timed a yearling on 1773ypm over 291 miles to take first open and first section J. John and Teresa timed Sophie Boy a Frans Zwols coc, the sire of which is a son of the super D'Artagain. D'Artagain is now sire and grandsire of many winners. The dam of Sophie Boy was a late bred from a re-pairing of the parents of Tip Top Tora after she won the BICC from Agen in 2019. 

Gary & Dave Heywood

D Heywood and Son of Basildon were second open and second section J with a two year old on 1757ypm over a distance of 290 miles. Dave and Gary timed a great-grand-daughter of Harry and Tip Top Junior. 

Pete Wells

P J Wells of Dunstable was third open and first section D with a two year old on 1750ypm over a distance of 311 miles. Pete's pigeon was bred by Simon Schofield of Leeds and has flown well this season including 8th club, 17th federation and 43th combine, only beaten by four loft mates. The sire was bred by Kevin Rooney and the dam by John Wheatcroft. 

Mick & Tracy Carrick's pigeon

Mr and Mrs Carrick and Son of Chesham were fourth open and second section D timing a two year old on 1712ypm over 300 miles. Mick and Tracy timed a cock bred from their old Bordeaux national winner, Georgie Boy. On the dam's side it contains the best of Syndicate Lofts Wardrum x Jean Genie and Mario x Sunday Girl. It was bred by Jim Whitehead. 

Darren Ede & Family

Darren Ede and Family of Southampton were fifth open and first section A with a two year old on 1691ypm over 249 miles. Darren's pigeon is bred from his super breeder, Forever Grateful, a son of Harry. The dam is a direct daughter of License to Thrill, the super Welsh racer belonging to Rob Pugh of the Rhondda Valley. 

John Cowlin

John Cowlin of Hockley timed a three year old on 1653ypm over a distance of 294 miles to take sixth open and third section J. John's pigeon is a Formula One Lofts Frans Zwols hen bred from the lines of Tip Top Junior, Queen of Rekkem and D'Artagain. 

Paul & Eamonn Kenny

Mr and Mrs Kenny and Son of Wantage were seventh open and third section D with a yearling on 1651ypm over 296 miles. This winning hen has previously been 3rd and 18th open from Guernsey. It was bred by Brian Mawdsley from Southport and the sire has won the federation and been 2nd West Lancashire Affiliation. 

Roger Lowe

Roger Lowe of Reading clocked a two year old on 1644ypm over 285 miles to take eighth open and fourth section D. Roger timed a roundabout cock containing 100% Jan Hooymans' Harry bloodlines. The sire is Fabulous Beauty bred by Roger from a son of Beauty Harry when paired to a double grand-daughter of Harry. The dam was bred by Nigel Langstaff from a son of Harry x Harriet. 

John, Darren & Josh May

Ninth open and first section G was a Belgian rung two year old on 1636ypm over 242 miles for Mr and Mrs May and Son of West Ashling. The May's pigeon was bred by their partnership loft of Yves De Wit in Belgium and it was raced on the roundabout/widowhood system. 

Kevin Foster

Completing the top ten and in second section G is Kevin Foster of Longfield Hill with a three year old on hen 1634ypm over a distance of 277 miles. The sire is a son of 1st international Barcelona ace pigeon 2009/2010 when paired to a daughter of New Laureaat and Kleine Jade. The dam is a grand-daughter of Starlight x Melissa and also of the cock that bred Kevin's first national Le Mans winner. 

Around the sections

Dave Waterhouse

Mr and Mrs Waterhouse of Bedhampton were second and third section A with two yearlings flying 243 miles on 1573 and 1572ypm respectively. First on the clock was a cock bred from a son of Sagan and second to time is from the CWL birds, from a son of Eurovision x Countance Hen. They were both flown on the roundabout system. 

Mel & Sue King

Mel and Sue King of Blandford Forum were the section B winners with a two year old on 1549ypm over 256 miles. Bred from the race team, this cock contains Vandenabeele bloodlines going back to their original M and D Gabys that they have had for many years. 

Mark Gower

Mr and Mrs Gower of Fordingbridge were second section B with a three year old on 1529ypm over a distance of 258 miles. Mark timed a cock bred from a son of Premier Stud's Mano-O-Chester when paired to a hen bred by GWP Macaloney from Camelot x Blue Caviar. 

Frank Quinn

Frank Quin of Devizes timed two pigeons to take first and second section C. First on the clock was a four year old hen on 1540ypm over 286 miles. Next to time was a three year old hen on 1512ypm. The first pigeon is known as Bobbie's Girl and was bred by David Parker of Clitheroe. Bobbie's Girl was 28th open NFC two weeks previously. Second on the clock was a mealy containing Andy Parson's bloodlines. 

Stuart Wilcox

Stuart Wilcox of Bristol was third section C with a Dutch rung three year old on 1467ypm over 301 miles. Stuart timed Buck Rogers, a widowhood cock bred by the famous Dutch fanciers Martijn and Buck De Kruijf. It was gifted to him by Martijn and Buck, along with some stock birds that have been very successful. Buck Rogers is bred from Stevie Wonder Jnr and the dam came from a direct son of Kerel Leanens' Pitbull and Litchje, sister to Olympic Bolt. 

Chambers Family

The Chambers Family of Cannock were the section E winners with a yearling on 1534ypm over 376 miles. The family timed Heart Breaker, a hen that took so long to trap they were certain she would be beaten to the section win. Heart Breaker is bred from their successful Lambrecht family of pigeons with the sire being a full brother to Blue Lightning. The dam was a Lambrecht hen bred by Brian Dearn. 

Dean Jones' pigeons

D Jones of Boston was second section E timing a four year old on 1498ypm over a distance of 389 miles. Dean timed a 3/4 Padfield x 1/4 Jelle Jellema cock, being an inbred grandson of Padfield's Invincible crossed with a daughter of New Laureaat x Kleine Jade.
