A report on the British Barcelona Club race from Barcelona on 31st July 2020 in conjunction with the International

42 members sent 140 birds to Barcelona with the British Barcelona Club, racing in conjunction with the International. They were liberated at 08.50CEST. The following is a report on the provisional result based on members' verifications.
Mark Gilbert

Mark Gilbert of Windsor was first open and first section D with a three year old on 684mpm. The open winner is Southfield Gold Lady, a direct daughter of Golden Barcelona and a grand-daughter of Romee. Mark timed a second pigeon on 482mpm to also take third open, second section. The sire of this timer is a son of Kanibaal, whilst the dam is a child of Golden Barcelona. Mark's third pigeon, a three year old on 393mpm took sixth open, third section and was bred from a son of New Laureaat and a daughter of Kanibaal Barcelona. Mark's fourth pigeon in the top ten was a four year old at ninth open on 272mpm. This was bred from a son of Jelle Jellema's Zwart Gold and a daughter of New Laureaat.

Tony Mather & Steve Haywood

Tony Mather and Steve Haywood of Matlock timed a five year old on 536mpm to take second open and first section E. The partners clocked Barcelona 97, the sire of which was a red chequer cock from German long distance stock. The dam was bred by Massarella and is a grand-daughter of True Grit and Brave Heart.

Luke & Les Cross

Luke and Les Cross of Gosport timed a five year old on 436mpm to take fourth open and first section A. Named Dawn's Faith, their chequer pied hen was bred from a mother and son pairing and contains three quarters Matt Rakes' Indy bloodlines. The dam was bred by Mick Bradley of Countryview Lofts and the sire was out of her when paired back into Shoefayre, a G Matthews Delbar.

Lee and Kevin Buddle of Dover timed a six year old on 417mpm to take fifth open and first section G. The section winner is Ronald, bred from a grandson of G and C Cooper's PD and JW. The dam is a daughter of Mark Gilbert's Southfield Supreme. The Buddle's also clocked a second bird, a four year old on 261mpm to also take tenth open. The sire of this pigeon is a full brother to Triple Two, whilst the dam is a daughter of Game.

Mick Parish's section winner

Mick Parish of Great Burstead was seventh open and first section J with a two year old on 389mpm. Mick timed a latebred cock sent feeding a couple of squeakers. Mick timed a second bird, a four year old on 252mpm to also take second section J and thirteenth open. This was another cock that was sent sitting eggs. The dam of this pigeon contains Titmus and Charville Jane bloodlines.

Mr and Mrs S Fear of Hayes clocked a four year old on 303mpm to take eighth open. The sire of this pigeons was bred by Massarella and contains Nico Volkens bloodlines. The dam was a gift bird bred by Ken Hine, a grandchild of Brian Long's Red Barcelona.

Jimmy Wearn and Eric Neilson of Ramsdean timed a chequer hen containing Fred Bloor x Ernie Deacon bloodlines to take second section A on 207mpm.

Stuart Wilcox

Stuart Wilcox of Bristol was fifteenth open and first section C with a six year old on 228mpm. Stuart timed Mario, a stray that came into his loft from Mario Martens of Belgium. Mario's breeding is Marcel Aelbrecht x Chris Hebberecht.

David & John Staddon

David and John Staddon of Shepton Mallett timed a three year old on 222mpm to take second section C and eighteenth open. The partners clocked their sole entry, a chaos widowhood cock bred from an Andy Parsons sire when paired to a daughter of Geoff and Catherine Cooper's George.
