Paul Gevaert (Meigem-Deinze, BE) continues to amaze with a series of new Provincial titles

Winning the 1st Prov Ace Pigeon Small Middle Distance KBDB and the title of 1st Prov Champion Small Middle Distance KBDB 2022 was the apotheosis of another strong racing season 2022.

Can it get even harder? After the death of tandem partner Carlos Lannoo, and the associated complete Gevaert-Lannoo sale (end of December 2020)… Paul Gevaert made a new start in 2021. He did this with 12 pairs of late summer youngsters 2020, which he had bred from the very best they had as Gevaert-Lannoo. These served as a breeding base, as a substitute for the future. In the meantime, wife Daisy came to strengthen the ranks in the pigeon loft and a new start was made in 2021. From now on the aim was to race with the youngsters (maximum 30 to 35 pigeons in total) in the middle distance, up to the provincial and national races.

That it would happen so quickly - at breakneck speed - exceeds the wildest expectations. In their debut year as a tandem, Paul and Daisy immediately played at champion level. It paid off – in addition to winning the 1st Prov Orleans 3,049 p. - in provincial and national title wins:

1. Prov. Ace Pigeon Shorter Middle Distance KBDB 2021

2. Nat. Ace Pigeon Shorter Middle Distance KBDB 2021

5. Prov. Ace Pigeon Longer Middle Distance KBDB 2021

11. Nat. Ace Pigeon Allround Youngsters KBDB 2021

Straight back up, like they never left. This is also proof of the top class present among the new youthful breeding team. Top class that came to the surface very quickly.

1st Prov Champion and 1st Prov Ace Pigeon Shorter Middle Distance KBDB 2022

In 2022, Paul and Daisy continued on the momentum of 2021. It is a pity about the incomprehensible measure, that the results for the national championships for the shorter middle distance must be achieved in 1 and the same club. This while in the grand middle distance you can switch clubs every other week, so to speak, and you can choose from 3 races (provincial, zonal and national) for the national championships. Hard to understand…

Now… Paul divides his team in the short middle distance over 2 clubs in the region. This small thing killed him. He was not classified in the national championships KBDB because one of the results that came into consideration - the provincial Orleans - which can/may only be basketed in 1 club - was basketted in the other club. Otherwise, Paul would have been on the highest step of the national podium, as 1st Nat Champion Smaller Middle Distance KBDB in 2022, and would have won 4th Nat Ace Pigeon Smaller Middle Distance KBDB 2022. Unfortunately...

Although the supremacy of the Paul Gevaert pigeons at provincial level was clearly evident, and here they are 'Nr 1'. The main titles from 2022 are:

- 1. Prov Champion Smaller Middle Distance Youngsters KBDB 2022 (with 1st +2nd nominated)

- 1. Prov Ace Pigeon Smaller Middle Distance Youngsters KBDB 2022

- 1. Champion Smaller Middle Distance Youngsters Fondclub Eeklo 2022

etc...

Stagairke is crowned 1st Prov Ace Pigeon Smaller Middle Distance KBDB 2022

In addition to the group of 35 youngsters (home-bred) with which Paul Gevaert tries to compete every year, at the beginning of 2022 he was asked by colleague Gino Clicque whether he was willing to bring a handful of youngsters from his loft to him, to test out. Paul described it scornfully as… I am stuck with several “interns”, without going into further detail. Now let one of these pigeons be crowned 'primus', as best pigeon from the province of East Flanders, as provincial 'Nr 1' in the small middle distance. Paul gave her the appropriate name of 'Stagairke'. Her honors list:

With her coefficient, this Stagairke would also have been 4th Nat Ace Pigeon Smaller Middle Distance KBDB, but because she was entered in 2 different clubs on the races that were eligible, she was not eligible for classification (you can read the reason for this above).

The fact that Paul Gevaert has also discovered 2 new top couples in his own breeding loft with his 2 national ace pigeons from 2021 – Ace Orleanske and Clooney I – became clear in 2022, once again. A full brother of Ace Orleanske won 3 x 1st prizes in the middle distance, while the direct children of these 2 national ace pigeons (coupled with each other) also immediately turned out to be superior 1st prize winners. They also played a huge part in winning the title of 1st Prov Champion Smaller Middle Distance KBDB in 2022. We briefly introduce these 3 top class pigeons to you.

With these pigeons, Paul Gevaert immediately tapped into a new vein of gold, that much is clear. A breeding line from which, in just 2 years time, powerful 1st prize winners and ace pigeons have been bred at provincial and national level.

The Gevaert pigeons also shine on the other side of the world

Not only in his own loft and in his own country are the pigeons of Paul Gevaert very successful. Winning, excelling, dominating… It is embedded in the breeding genes of the Paul Gevaert(-Lannoo) pigeons. And many colleagues are reaping the benefits of this. Even far abroad.

That's how Mr. Gong won the 2nd prize against 2,962 p. in the final of the Tangshan Sunshine OLR (speed 1096 m/min), in which a total of 17,423 pigeons participated… and this with the 2022-26-0811038. This pigeon also won a 9th prize against 10,829 p. on the first flight of 300 Km. The dam of this top pigeon is a daughter of a direct Gevaert-Lannooduif, BE17-4176068, a son of Crayonné Plastron x Platina (now in the lofts of Mr. Kaier).

And there is more… In the first race of the elite Pioneer club in China – in which the crème de la crème of the Chinese pigeon sport participates – Mr. Great Wall won the 3rd prize with youngsters with Gevaert-Lannoo blood in their veins.

This exceeds our wildest dreams… dixit Paul Gevaert

Shining with a mini colony has always been the trademark in Meigem-Deinze. Do what you excel at! The fact that they could achieve such mighty achievements, barely 2 years after the new start, exceeds the wildest dreams of Paul and Daisy. And that with descendants of 12 pairs of unproven summer youngsters from 2020. This is once again proof that a lot is possible with top class in the lofts. Paul Gevaert has always based their stock building on superior 1st prize winners and ace pigeons. Top genes to cherish. Because just like in all other sports, pigeon sport is all about one thing… about ‘winning’!
