Until last season, the combination of Vermeerbergen-Wilms was focused exclusively on the young birds and in particular the national young birds’ races. Pigeons were raced from two different locations: the first round of young birds was housed in Mol under the name of Vermeerbergen-Wilms while the second round was raced from a loft in Brasschaat, under the name of Vermeerbergen-Wilms-Greg. They saw quite a few spectacular results in 2012, including a 2nd national Bourges, a 3rd national Guéret, and a 4th nat. Ace Pigeon KBDB Middle Distance Young Birds. In 2013 they won a 1st national ZB1 Guéret II, a 1st provincial Argenton II, a 2nd provincial Argenton II, etc. You can reread our report on last year's results here.
With Grégory Bekaert taking a different course in 2014, Luc Vermeerbergen and Robby Wilms started looking for a new partner. Luc then came across the name of Kris Mostmans, a talented fancier from Rijkevorsel. Luc was impressed with the results Kris had achieved with such a small team of pigeons. This young man is winner of several top prizes in provincial and national sprint championships, with pigeons he had obtained from Robby Wilms earlier on. This was the start of the new trio Vermeerbergen-Wilms-Mostmans. As in previous years, the first round is played in Mol with the second round of young birds being moved to Rijkevorsel. This approach allows them to try out the pigeons that stem from the magnificent Vermeerberegen-Wilms breeding team in the national young birds’ races.

The old birds of Kris Mostmans had a great start to the season, which shows he is a great addition to the team. They managed to win two first prizes and 30 top results (including 22 per 10) with no more than 36 basketed pigeons:
Merchtem 297 Olds 3-24-28-50-52-98 6/7 Merchtem 157 Olds 1-8-9-13 4/7 Quievrain 666 Yearlings 28-39 2/2 Quievrain 433 Olds 6-12-114 3/3 Quievrain 664 Yearlings 44-55 2/2 Quievrain 401 Olds 1-13-32 3/3 Quievrain 442 Yearlings 35-36-90 3/3 Quievrain 311 Olds 22-23-41 3/3 Quievrain 186 Olds 29-31 2/3 Quievrain 337 Yearlings 6-13 2/3
If they can maintain their level of performance in the young birds' races, which is their main objective, we are likely to see a stellar season from these fanciers from Antwerp!
