Maurice & Luc De Laere (Anzegem, BE) win a 1st Prov. Tours West Flanders against 2,112 yearlings

Team Luc De Laere had a wonderful weekend: they claimed a provincial first prize from Tours yearlings, and they had the fastest pigeon in the province in the middle distance race from Fontenay sur Eure WVOU against 16,001 pigeons. Quite impressive!

After the passing of father Maurice on 29 March earlier this year, Luc was forced to run the loft on his own. He is determined not to let his level of performance drop. In fact, you can tell from his first results in the middle distance in 2015 that he is planning to further step up his game.

Jerommeke takes the win against 2,122 yearlings

Luc De Laere took the win in the yearlings' race with Jerommeke, which was clocked at 12:58'00" after completing a total of 435.554km. This makes him the fastest of 2,122 yearlings, with a velocity of 1327.91 m/min.

Jerommeke managed to put the icing on the cake for Luc that weekend, after his Sproet Tieke had won a provincial first prize Fonteany WVOU earlier that day.

Sproet Tieke the fastest pigeon WVOU from Fontenay

The star of this loft was out for revenge. He won an impressive national first prize from Chateauroux last year but he arrived a lot sooner than expected, and Luc clocked him when he was already in the loft. As a result, the control ring was clocked 17 minutes later than the electronic clock. Sproet Tieke was stripped of his national victory by the official regulations. It seems Sproet Tieke wanted to make up for his loss in 2015, which he did with a great performance from Fontenay:

Who knows what else this pigeon has in store for us. He does not appear to be satisfied with just a single victory!

The De Laere racing team is obviously in great shape, which sounds promising for the upcoming national classcis of the longer middle distance. Luc De Laere has made his mark this season, and he will be a name to be reckoned with the next few weeks. Congratulations Luc!
