Champions breed champions. This has been Team BDS's main philosophy, and it enabled them to gain quite a number of impressive results. The 2019 season has proven to be another major success for Team BDS, with for instance a 1st Nat. Narbonne yearlings in the lofts of Dr. Piet Blancke. This was the second national victory in two seasons, after their 1st Nat. Agen olds and 1st Internat. Agen hens in 2017. In addition, they closed the 2019 long distance season winning the title of Best long distance pigeon of Belgium yearlings across 3 races. It was the icing on the cake after a great race from Libourne, where they claimed a provincial first prize and six national top ten placings. Their impressive achievements are the result of specific investments in race winning bloodlines. This is how their world class breeding loft was put together.
Golden stock breeder New Kaasboer has been at the basis of a 1st national first prize, as well as some national ace pigeons
New Kaasboer sent his sons
In their hunt for national top results, Team BDS allowed the Kaasboer bloodlines of Gaston Van De Wouwer to play a prominent role. The Van De Wouwer pigeons are an internationally renowned breed, and it looks like Team BDS has a new generation of top breeders in their hands thanks to the Kaasboer bloodline of Van De Wouwer - a generation 2.0. The central figure in this team today is golden stock breeder New Kaasboer BE09-6111600. It was the author of this article that advised the PIPA Elite Center (PEC) to obtain this pigeon from Gaston Van de Wouwer, and this pigeon did not disappoint: he developed into one of the very best breeding birds of his generation. New Kaasboer was himself a half brother (from the same dam) of many of Van de Wouwer's super class pigeons, including:
-Laura: 1st Nat Bourges 17,061 p. in 2010, and the fastest of 39,577 pigeons
-Serena: 1st Nat. Zone Poitiers 2,537 p. in 2013
This New Kaasboer quickly showed his breeding value at the PEC and he promptly bred a world class athlete: Super Gaston, winner of the following prizes (only raced as a young bird in the lofts of Freddy & Jacques Vandenheede):
7. Prov Orleans 3,042 p. 9. Prov Montrichard 3,091 p. 10. Prov Bourges 6,361 p.
And Super Gaston soon became the sire of a race winner himself: a 1st Intprov. Chateauroux 4,190 pigeons
Another gifted bird bred from New Kaasboer is Kaasboerinnetje, winner of a 9th Prov. Bourges of 1,955 pigeons, alongside several other provincial, zonal and national top results. New Kaasboer is also the sire of Libourne: 43rd Nat. Libourne of 6,134 p. and the (great-)grandfather of such highly talented pigeons as:
-Lady Agen: 1st Nat. Agen 4,405 p. in 2017, and 1st Internat. Agen Hens for Dr. Piet Blancke
-Perfect Blue BE16-132: 14th Nat. Ace Pigeon long distance KBDB with a 16th Nat. Tulle 9,578 p., a 17th Nat. Jarnac 5,371 p., a 95th Nat. Limoges 10,554 p. etc.
In other words: these are references that clearly illustrate the enormous breeding value of New Kaasboer.
Descendants of New Kaasboer allow Team BDS to dominate the national competition
And the fanciers of Team BDS were well aware of this. In their search for reinforcements (new bloodlines for crossbreeding) for their own breeding loft, they turned to the PEC, looking to obtain direct youngsters of New Kaasboer. A few youngsters of New Kaasboer were obtained, alongside some additional birds that came from a joint breeding with this fantastic breeder. These proved to be highly successful investments indeed for Team BDS; it clearly showed in their achievements in recent years. And their 2019 season was truly something else: the Kaasboer dynasty was incredibly strong; they destroyed the field and overpowered their opponents in numerous races. To illustrate, we take a look at their best birds of 2019 and their incredible achievements this season:

The introduction of this New Kaasboer bloodline has been a major success for Team BDS. This fantastic bloodline enabled them to become a renowned player in the national long distance. And there is more.
The introduction of the world class lines of Joël Verschoot, provider of national first prize winners
Long before Joël Verschoot became a world class player thanks to his incredible Armando, Team BDS had already paid a number of visits to this fancier from Ingelmunster, looking for reinforcements. Fanciers that had to compete against the Verschoot pigeons knew that they had a tough race ahead of them. The Verschoot pigeons have been outstanding in demanding conditions. The harder it gets, the more dominant this pigeon family becomes. Team BDS had noticed this as well, and they quickly understood that this is exactly what they needed in order to expand their team of breeders. It was a very successful investment indeed.
One of the best yearlings of Belgium in the national long distance for Team BDS is a pure Verschoot descendant. A great racing bird related to different national champions:
-Ace Verschoot BE18-3106324
5. Best YL of Belgium across 3 national long distance races KBDB 2019 11. Na Ace Pigeon long distance & extreme long distance YLs KBDB 2019 9. Nat Libourne 4,354 p. ’19 27. Nat Limoges 10,783 p. ’19 68. Nat Tulle 7,155 p. ’19
He is a 100% Joël Verschoot bird, bred from two direct pigeons from Ingelmunster:

He is the sire of Ace Verschoot, as well as of the winner of a 1st Pontoise 411 p. He was bred from one of Joël Verschoot's stock pairs: Ally BE07-3034246 x Houfflijntje BE07-4084429, the parents of Annelies (2nd Nat. La Souterraine) and others.

And lastly we have another racing hen that really turned 2019 in a major success across the board: Lady Narbonne. She was able to win her second national first prize in the extreme long distance for Dr. Piet Blancke, in just two years' time. She too is a 50% Verschoot pigeon from the same Cees bloodline, this time crossbred to pigeons of Jos Joosen.

Winners bred from winners
Winners put together with other winners or their direct descendants; it has been the key to success for Team BDS. Their achievements over the last three seasons speak for themselves: the fanciers of Team BDS claimed two national first prizes and several ace pigeon titles, even at national level. And let's not forget their many excellent overall results, including many top 100 placings in national races. We talked about this in great detail in an earlier report on Team BDS. The invaluable Kaasboer dynasty, the successful introduction of Joël Verschoot pigeons and the introduction of race winners from fellow fanciers; it allowed Team BDS to become one of the household names in Belgium.
Their achievements are based on a solid foundation, and this foundation is likely to lead to great results for years to come. We think there is still a lot to come from this team of champions.
