Jespers-Vanderwegen (Holsbeek, BE) wins one provincial first prize after another in 2017 thanks to the Kleine Dirk dynasty

The name of Jespers-Vanderwegen is inevitably linked with Kleine Dirk, as Hermand and Johny have managed to excel many seasons in a row with their Kleine Dirk descendants. Their stock breeder allowed the combination from Holsbeek to win several top results again this season, including three provincial first prizes.

Johny Vanderwegen and Herman Jespers

Plenty of racing birds from Kleine Dirk

The Kleine Dirk bloodline has been giving talented racing birds for Herman an Johny from day one, especially when combined with the Bliksem bloodline of Vandenabeele. Their renowned bloodline, which is founded on Dirk Van Dyck's Kannibaal, really started to shine only in 2014, when two grandchildren of Kleine Dirk won a 1st and 3rd National in the national from La Souterraine yearlings. The bloodline was successful the following year as well, with Super Ricka, Phoebe and Floriane winning the title of 1st Nat. Ace Pigeon KBDB Longer Middle Distance YBs, 1st Ace Pigeon Brabant Union Middle Distance YLs and 2nd Ace Pigeon Brabant Union Middle Distance YLs respectively. These pigeons all come from a combination with the renowned Bliksem bloodline, which is no coincidence. Over the past two years the Kleine Dirk descendants have been successful particularly at provincial level, winning six provincial first prizes, spread equally across the two seasons. This is an invaluable bloodline indeed, guaranteed to bring numerous talented racing birds, much of which have not even been mentioned here. Click here to take a look at the complete Kleine Dirk dynasty.

Continuing along these lines

The number of references from the Kleine Dirk bloodline in recent years are hard to keep track of. We think it is safe to assume that Hermand and Johny will continue to work with the Kleine Dirk bloodline in the near future as well, since this line is guaranteed to deliver talented racing birds season after season. Or as the former manager of the English national football team Alfred Ramsey once said: "Never change a winning team".
