Exceptional averages! Jelle Roziers 6,850 euro – Simeon Monev 4,725 euro – Daughter Antionio De Saer 19,000 euro - Auction weekend over 410,000 euro

10 auctions ended on Sunday 23rd of December, with 149 pigeons sold for 411,125 euro, or 2,759 euro per bird. We talk you through each auction below.

Wout Spierings – 17 pigeons – 1,275 euro/bird
The first auction of the day was that of Wout Spierings. After a fantastic 2018 racing season he sold a group of youngsters bred specially for this auction, raising 21,675 euro in total. The most expensive youngster is a son of Harry x Zus Dolce Vita, which goes to Taiwan for 2,700 euro. Four pigeons are going to China, four to Taiwan, two to The Netherlands and France, and one to Argentina, Belgium, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Jos Goessen – 24 pigeons – 2,752 euro/bird
This champion from Limburg in the Netherlands offered for sale his collection of Gaby Vandenabeele birds, along with some special youngsters. The 24 youngsters raised 66,050 euro in total, with Super Romeo being sold to China for as much as 8,600 euro. The pigeons are moving to China (11), Taiwan (4), The Netherlands (3), Japan (2), Qatar (1), the USA (1), Greece (1) and France (1).

André & Bert Leideman – 12 pigeons – 1,963 euro/bird
The two brothers André & Bert Leideman have been one of the leading names in The Netherlands for a few years now; they deliver almost on a weekly basis. They sold 12 pigeons from their best breeding and racing birds in a special PIPA auction. As expected, the most expensive bird was a youngster of Goed Grijs, the number one pigeon in this loft. The youngster goes to Kuwait for 4,400 euro. The 12 pigeons were sold for 23,550 euro in total, and they will be moving to The Netherlands (4), Kuwait (3), Qatar (1), Belgium (1), France (1), and the United Kingdom (1).

Kubacek Lubomir – 6 pigeons – 3,525 euro/bird
Our PIPA agent for the Czech Republic Lubomir Kubacek is one of his country's greatest fanciers, and he sells a small but special group of racing birds every season, along with a group of youngsters. The eye-catcher of this auction was sale 1, Bingo, which goes to China for an impressive 10,200 euro. The second most expensive bird was his full brother, a pigeon with a proven record. He goes to Taiwan for 6,000 euro. The six pigeons raised 21,150 euro in total, and they were sold to Taiwan (3), China (2), and Kuwait (1).

Hardy Kruger – 11 pigeons – 1,827 euro/bird
Some big prizes were won in China with pigeons of Hardy Kruger just a while ago, which explains why so many Chinese fanciers turned to this auction. The pigeon breed based around Black Power is increasingly showing its potential in other lofts as well. The 11 pigeons raised 20,100 euro in total, and the most expensive bird was sale 1, a youngster of Black Ocean. It was sold to China for 3,400 euro. The 11 youngsters were spread across China (8), the United States (2) and Sweden (1).

Team BDS – 14 pigeons – 3,129 euro/bird
This was a fine collection of pigeons offered for sale by Team BDS, all related to national winners. The highlight of the event was sale 1, a daughter of top breeder Antonio of Rudi De Saer, which goes to China for an impressive 19,000 euro. The second most expensive pigeon is a grandchild of Kaasboer, which goes to China for 4,600 euro. The 14 pigeons eventually raised 43,800 euro, and will be moving to China (4), Taiwan (4), the United Kingdom (2), Belgium (2), Morocco (1), and The Netherlands (1).

Jelle Roziers – 6 pigeons – 6,850 euro/bird
This fancier has been highly successful with the young birds in the national races over the years. He has a 1st National Bourges YBs and a title of 1st National Ace Pigeon KBDB longer middle distance YBs to his name, which means Jelle has won the two most prestigious young birds' titles in Belgium in quick succession. All of this team's best pigeons and their parents are kept in Jelle's loft, and a select group of six youngsters were put up for auction. This was a small group of top quality birds, and they raised 41,100 euro in total. The most expensive youngster is a youngster of New Queen L, 1st Nat. Ace Pigeon KBDB 2017, paired to Gust, 1st National Bourges young birds. This youngster goes to China for 17,200 euro. The second most expensive bird is a full brother of NEW Queen L, which goes to China as well, for 9,200 euro. Five pigeons were sold to Chinese fancier, the sixth bird goes to Canada.

Barcelona Special – 39 pigeons – 2,595 euro/bird
This is an annual highlight for fanciers fond of the classic from Barcelona. We sold 39 youngsters from some of the leading teams in Western Europe in the race from Barcelona. The most expensive youngster was a daughter of Sumerian Fighter, 1st Int. Barcelona 2017, which now lives in the lofts of Batenburg-Van de Merwe. This hen was sold to the United Kingdom for 8,400 euro. The second most expensive bird was a son of Elena of Frans Bungeneers, which goes to The Netherlands for 8,200 euro. A daughter of Romee was also sold for 8,200 euro, to a fancier from the United Kingdom. The 39 youngsters were sold for 101,200 euro in total, and they are going to The Netherlands (9), Taiwan (7), the United Kingdom (7), Germany (4), France (2), Japan (2), Hungary (1), Belgium (1), China (1), The Czech Republic (1), Denmark (1), Kuwait (1), Malta (1), and Poland (1).

Simeon Monev – 8 pigeons – 4,725 euro/bird
One of PIPA's biggest clients in Europe is Simeon Monev. He has had some fantastic racing seasons, and he decided to sell some of his best birds on PIPA, including the fantastic racing bird Carisma, which goes to China for 11,800 euro. This pigeon won four different 1st National Ace Pigeon titles in Bulgaria, and stems from a son New Laureaat x daughter Porsche 911. The 8 pigeons were sold for 37,800 euro, and they will be going to China (4), Japan (2), Qatar (1) and Belgium (1).

December Auction – 12 pigeons – 2,892 euro/bird
In the last auction of the day we had 12 pigeons from previous PIPA auctions, which had not been paid for. 75 percent of them raised more than in their initial auction. The most expensive bird was a youngster of Rudy, which goes to China for 13,400 euro. The 12 pigeons raised 34,700 euro in total, and they are moving to China (6), the USA (2), Taiwan (1), Qatar (1), the United Kingdom (1) and Belgium (1).
