Damien is a pigeon fancier in heart & soul who always wanted to go further in the practice of his hobby. He always wanted to compete against the best to test the quality of his pigeon breed. Due to his geographic localization, he compete against the cream of the crop of the south of Belgium (Casaert M & G, Casaert-Sénéchal, Beukenne father & son, André Allemeersch, etc). This is the only way to make you progress because if you want to beat these loft, you need to basket pigeons firt class pigeons, racers who are able to make the difference as fast as possible. Racing in the area of Tournai is not withou risk as compete against this kind of loft can disgust you forever about the pigeon sport. But those who want to achieve great results and those who put all the chance on their side always ends to see the end of the line. Since the end of the '90's, our friend has won several top prizes that a lot of pigeon fanciers owe him and his success at the national level gave him the opportunity to attract well known fanciers from Belgium.
We already explained it in a previous report, the success can be sometimes found at the corner of your street. For Damien, it was the discovery of a golden breeding pair ('Joel' x 'La Flamande'), a very harmless discovery as the cock was purchased in the loft of a small local fancier while the hen was bought on the Lier market. It is the proof that the success is not only possible with the purchase of great pedigrees, even if it really helps to go faster. It wasn't the opposite in Ere and Damien successfully obtained a superior yield when he crossed the descendants of his golden breeding pair with pigeons coming from Eric Limbourg, André Roodhooft or the Herbots brothers.
For the crossings obtained with the pigeons of the first mentionned, the result was quite sensationnal: 1st national Argenton from 10,571 olds (highest speed of 30,328 p.) booked by 'Diego' (son of 'Tatiana', daughter of the basis pair).
The following year, the 'Connor' made it happen again with the 1st Interprovincial Vierzon from more than 11.000 pigeons just before one of his sister, 'Mandy', classified herself at the 6th national place from Bourges against more than 32.000 pigeons.
We also find back the fuel of the loft there as their father, 'Cody', is a direct son of the golden pair. In short, you have understood it, this pair is a real pedestal and all the results who permitted to Damien to become famous at the national level are depending of this pair. As a fine pigeon breeder, Damien strenghtened this source when he crossed her with descendants from some well renowned lines. Not surprizing then that he has won a national victory, a zonal victory as well as an interprovincial victory in only two years of time. And this without talking about the national title of Ace pigeon yearlings LCB...
Baert-Debuscheere: an association full of promise
Since 2 years now, Damien Baert & Roger Debuscheere (Lokeren, BE) decided to race under a partnership so that they can focus on the national races calendar, as well as the long distance races. As everybody knows, Roger Debuscheere owns a magnificient collection of pigeons, probably one of the most impressive from Belgium. And Damien is nowadays the 'master': he choose the couplings, target the purchases, etc. He decide of everything! With such quality put in the hands of such a fine pigeon maniac, the results of the coming years might be wonderfull!
2012, end of an era
The 2012 season begun on the wheels mostly thanks to the flying conditions during the races of Bourges and Châteauroux, races who occured with head wind and heat, flying conditions that the pigeons from the Baert colony particulary like. However, it was the last season of the actual racing team as Damien decided to take a new challenge with his new partner. The ideal occasion to introduce you the best pigeons of the colony!
