Cees Schroevers (Arnemuiden, NL) Zeelands glory

After Cees Schroevers sold his old birds in 2009 (via PIPA), he is once again in his infant stages. New breeders and performance pigeons have to do it, and they do it well.

Cees Schroevers, living in Arnemuiden (NL), is a passionate fancier with some 20 racing couples raced in total widowhood. He tries to ensure his successes with a breeding loft containing about 12 couples. Every year 60 youngsters are bred for own use in the races for the youngsters. All in all not very innovating, but extremely successful.

His pigeons are not just as successful as his auction was on PIPA. Less than a year after the auction, Cees races really well in District 7 with his yearlings (2010). This District is located in the regions of Zeeland. But last year was one of the best, top pigeons were born and coached as necessary. A small overview of 2010 with yearlings, followed by 2011 (13x1° prize) with 2 year olds and yearlings.

They are great performances with a very young team, what does that promise for the future?. It was Bull’s eye last year, with a 1stNPO from Tours. Yes, the future looks bright for the Schroevers family. Because they know there what racing top (with high prize percentages) is…

These are very good performances achieved by a formidable fancier. But of course flanked by a beautiful team of racing and breeding pigeons. This consists mainly of pigeons from Koen Minderhoud ( G.Vandenabeele), Van den Eynde-Goovaerts (BE), Jos and Jules Engels (BE) and the force from Ermerveen, C and G Koopman. He further owns the old sort from his father, in other words Gebroeders Janssen/Jos Marien. An exponent of this is ‘Rocky’. This classy bird is already father and grandfather of several top birds and comes out G. Vandenabeele X Gebr. Janssen. Sometimes people (and so also Cees) decide to move a pigeon, which races well, to the breeding loft. It was the same this year. Super pigeons ‘Lady Kim’ and ‘Superboy 775’ had proven their worth in the races and were moved to the breeding loft to ensure just as successful descendants.

The pigeons were coached by Cees to such results with his own mixture from 5 different bags of good food. The pigeons are not given a preventive cure (only acting when necessary). Although the disadvantage can’t be proven, it doesn’t seem to be an advantage (qua location) that his pigeons  always have to race over the Western Scheldt. Headwind and ‘mirky’ weather can especially cause problems. Cees noticed that this is especially a nuisance with the youngsters. For one reason or another they daren’t cross the water. Early training is a must here then.

Cees Schroevers from Arnemuiden has worked his way back to the top of the region, and certainly the province Zeeland, in a very short space of time. He won magnificent championships and his pigeons distinguish themselves by racing top from a good number of pigeons. They are very finely built and have soft plumage. Combined with the qualities of Cees as a fancier, he is one of the fanciers we will have to keep an close eye on in 2012.
