Recent top auctions have just been closed, as the next is already around the corner: the sale of all pigeons from 2019-2020-2021 of Team BDS. Superior cracks and 1st Prize winners up to the zonal and national level.
Exactly 11 years ago, 3 pigeon fanciers - Dirk Speybroeck, Dr. Piet Blancke and Bart Declerck - decided to join forces and race under the name of Team BDS. Their goal was clear from the start: divide and conquer, and race at the highest national level, each racing in their respective disciplines. A synergy between three pigeon stars.
The mission was clear: stand strong together!
Immediately the value of their partnership became evident. A rush to the top of pigeon sport followed. It went very quickly...very quickly. Initially, on the provincial and national heavy middle distance races, with victories on provincial and zonal levels. The real 'boom', the prequel to the climax of 2022, was winning 1st National Agen against 4,405 old birds (fastest of 9,740 pigeons) and 1st International Agen 4,269 hens in 2017.
This (inter)national victory led to a change of focus. From then on - starting in 2018 - the focus would be on national long distance races (500-800km). Immediately, the BDS pigeons were leading figures in this discipline, at times even dominating the results list. 'Double Kaasboer' became figurehead of this supreme colony, winning the title of 1st Best Belgian Yearling across 3 National races in 2019.
Just behind him came a legion of BDS stars such as Lady Agen, Lady Narbonne, Ace Verschoot, Silver Monty, Bronze Aurillac…Each and everyone of these cracks ensured the combination of phenomenal results and highlights in the period between 2017 and 2021:

It would turn out that these results were just a taste of what was to come, leading up to the climax of the 2022 season. The absolute super season of Team BDS.
The wondrous 2022 season: peaking and performing at the highest level possible
Could it get any better? Yes. Raising the bar just a little higher each year, this is what characterizes true champions. That is exactly what Team BDS did, in an attempt to get even more out of the class that resides on their lofts. They succeeded in every way. Top results were achieved non-stop and 1st Prizes came flying in. The absolute highlight in the 2022 season was the 1st National Issoudun Yearlings and the 2x 1st Zonal victories from Bourges and La Souterraine. Plenty highlights, with almost weekly 1st Prizes and astounding series on regional level, resulting in top classifications in various competitions up to the national level.
Looking back at the results of the tough 2022 season, the class of this combination becomes evident. Besides the National and 2x Zonal victories, many National Ace Pigeon titles were won by BDS; winning titles as "Best Belgian Pigeon" and KBDB titles in their respective disciplines. Again..this is only a small selection of the highlights and titles won in 2022. Having these results on your palmares after one season, deserves nothing less than straight A's.
Ending on a high note
At the end of 2021, all pigeons from Team BDS born in 2018 and older were brought to auction on PIPA. The largest part of their old birds racing team, and nearly their full breeding collection was sold. With the remaining pigeons, Team BDS went all-in one last time in 2022. An honorable farewell as Team BDS. Stopping at their peak, after one of the best, if not the best racing season of their career. A more beautiful end is unthinkable. A success story which finished on a high note for Team BDS/Speybroeck.
The decision to stop racing under the name of Team BDS in 2022, was made back in 2021. The daily pressure of their work, in combination with the pressure to perform week after week with their pigeons was not easy. A logical result was stopping as "Team BDS". With the young bird team of 2022 each of the members can continue individually - racing under their own name - and decide how to go on in pigeon sport on their own pace and desire, in their respective disciplines. Whether that is heavy middle distance, long distance or extreme long distance.
Subsequently, a load of talent, all pigeons from 2019-2020-2021 - in addition to several 2022 young birds from exclusive pairs - will be available in auction. Including the above mentioned 1st Prize winners and Ace Pigeons. The pigeons responsible for the super season in 2022. Pigeon at their peak, in the form of their lives.
