Alwin had had a great 2019 season and we reckon the year 2020 will be just as memorable for him. Throughout the last several decades, his pigeon family has shown to be capable of racing at the highest level. In the 1980s Alwin started developing a pigeon family that is still the basis for success today. And it goes without saying that he will occasionally invest in other bloodlines as well. These are thoroughly put to the test before they are incorporated into his existing breed. But pigeon racing had not been his number one priority over the last number of years, for several reasons: he was forced to move due to a dyke relocation, he had to use a temporary loft, there was a constant flow of construction traffic, and he had to move house in two phases. But with this finally out of the way, Alwin has already had some very solid results at national level over the past couple of years, racing from his new location. He also gets a bit of help from his daughter Maaike, which does play an important role in this team: it is in part thanks to her never-ending enthusiasm that Alwin is now as passionate as ever. In fact, Maaike has been keeping pigeons on her own last season, with 13 racing cocks and 1 hen, which she looked after all by herself. Meanwhile, Alwin was responsible for a team of 36 racing hens. And they looked after the young birds together, which they enjoyed a lot, judging from their achievements and championship titles over the last couple of years, all at national/NPO/provincial level (Unfortunately, most of the 2020 championship titles are yet to be awarded). Let's have a look:

The golden bloodlines of super class hen Gigi
Many of their recent achievements were won with the help of the fantastic Gigi, without doubt one of the most special pigeons in Alwin's collection. This super class hen had a fantastic racing career, this is her palmares:
And Gigi is now showing to be a fantastic breeding hen as well; this is the palmares of her descendants:
As you can tell, Gigi has been pretty much invaluable in the pigeon lofts in Brummen. We zoom in on a few of the most prominent names in this renowned Gigi dynasty.
NL12-1234230 Giga Noble
Giga Noble is a direct son of Gigi. He is a great racing bird and he is now turning out to be an invaluable breeder as well: he is the sire of Celia and of Maaike's Treasure (1st Nat. Ace Pigeon YBs middle distance 2019). We take a look at the most important achievements of Giga Noble and his descendants:
NL19-1533601 New Porsche Bond
New Porsche Bond is another 100% Petrie pigeon that carries the bloodlines of Gigi. The sire of New Porsche Bond is the 836, a grandson of Gigi, and himself a great racing bird and winner of a 1st of 1,580 p. and a 1st of 136 p., as well as a 3rd NPO of 7,450 p. The sire is a direct son of the iconic Gigi, and the dam comes from the renowned Brummenaar, winner of 10 first prizes and a stock breeder for Henk Bussing.
Brummenaar is a full brother of Alwin Petrie's famous Majesty, a 1st ace pigeon District Zutphen both in 2001 and 2002 and winner of a 1st Hensies of 10,973 p. The dam is 801 Daughter Brummenaar, winner of two first prizes and a 1st ace pigeon one day long distance in 2016. This hen also originates from the fantastic Brummenaar, winner of 10 first prizes.

NL14-1662101 Olympic Dream
Olympic Dream is another important member of Alwin's breeding team. She originates from the Olympiad pair Bond Schallie x Mother Penelope, which are also the parents of Olympic Penelope (Olympiad Pigeon 2011). And Bond Schallie is in turn another full brother of Gigi.
This Chloe is quite a fantastic racing hen. She wins a 1st NPO Chateauroux (565km) of 3,272 pigeons (and 4th Nat. S3 of 8,815 p.), plus several other top prizes. And her pedigree is rather impressive too. Her sire is Moon Of Baroda, winner of 3 first prizes and a pigeon with golden origins: he is a son of Golden Jubilee, inbred to Porsche Bond and also the sire of the phenomenal Gigi (Europe Cup and 2x 1st TXT), of Gaga (Gigi's super class sister) and of Usain (a great race winner). The dam is Paragorn, breeder of many successful racing birds. She comes straight from the lofts of Dutch grandmaster Bertie Camphuis and his fantastic Super 78!
NL19-1417339 New Gigi
The last top class bird from the Gigi dynasty that we wanted to talk about is New Gigi. The dam of new Gigi is Gigi's Little Girl, one of the absolute best youngsters of Alwin Petrie's stock breeder Gigi. Gigi's Little Girl is winner of a 16th nat. old ace pigeon title 'De Allerbeste 2017', 2nd ace pigeon sprint District De Ijssel 2016, 3rd ace pigeon sprint District De Ijssel 2016, and winner of a 4th-5th-6th-8th ace pigeon in the district and the region. The sire of New Gigi is a 100% Stefaan Lambrechts pigeon, coming from a sister of Super '188 (2nd Nat. ace pigeon middle distance KBDB 2013).

De Gigi dynasty
For the past 30 years, Alwin has been one of the absolute best pigeon fanciers in The Netherlands, racing with ONE SINGLE family. And the phenomenal Gigi has been one of the most important members of his team recently. She was quite successful as a racing bird and her (grand)children are proving to be exceptionally gifted as well, as you can tell from their fantastic results over the years.
