New challenges ahead for the Casaert-Sénéchal combination (Russeignies, BE)!

It's not easy to continue to stay motivated if you have won everything there is to win. In the most common sports, many athletes tend to stop once they have reached the top of their game, after they have won everything. But in pigeon racing, it is possible to adapt your ambitions and to focus on another discipline instead.

Sebastien Casaert is one of them. With a performance list that already includes, among others, two national ace pigeon titles KBDB, a title of national champion KBDB and a national victory, it can be hard to find new ambitions. In reality, only the races of the extreme long distance were yet to be discovered. That is why he decided to introduce pigeons that can cover these long distances shortly after his auction of 2014. As a result, pigeons of Joost De Smeyter, Jelle Jellema and Batenburg-Van de Merwe strengthened the pigeon breed from Russeignies. But it was not his most impressives move. In fact, Sebastien also purchased 'Invictus', the best European pigeon in the heavy long distance in 2015, and 'Hugo', 1st international St-Vincent 2015. The pigeons for the heavy long distance are now managed by Hugo, who raced under his own name for the first time in 2016. Of course, it will take some time before we can see the potential of these pigeons.

Some others 'foreigners' were introduced in the lofts of Russeignies as well. In fact, a full round of youngsters bred by the PEC were given to Sebastien for the first time in early 2016. The results were as good as they expected. As you know, the generation 2016 of Casaert-Sénéchal has been in a real state of grace throughout the season, showing some impressive performances at the end of the season. Feel free to take a look at the most impressive results of this young team:

With such impressive results the team showed their opponents that they are clearly on the right track after their total sale, now just over 18 months ago. These performances were of course won by the pigeons from the PEC but also by the youngsters of the pigeons that were kept in Russeignies after the total sale. This goes to show that the lofts in Russeignies are still home to some top quality bloodlines.

A new collaboration and some new challenges

The achievements of this year with the youngsters really impressed Nikolaas Gyselbrecht, founder & owner of the PEC, who suggested to collaborate with Sebastien. It was an offer he could not refuse. In addition to receiving a whole round of youngsters bred from one of the best breeding lofts in the world, Sebastien also had the opportunity of not having to deal with a breeding team anymore. This was an important detail, because he always considered himself to be more of a racer than a breeder. This could really make a difference during the season, because he can stay focused on his racing loft. That is why he has decided to auction his entire team of breeders and his middle distance racing team. This group of pigeons includes the last youngsters of the legendary breeding hen 'Palme d'Or' but also youngsters from her two famous sons, 'Nikolaas' & 'Maurice' (nest brother of 'Nikolaas') and, last but not least, 'Victoire', the only pigeon up until now that managed to bring home a national victory for Sebastien. To summarize, these will be the very last pigeons bred from the lines that allowed Sebastien Casaert to become a nationally renowned pigeon fancier, performing at the highest level for more than 10 years!

'Victoire', the pigeon that won the first national victory for Casaert-Sénéchal.

We wish the new partnership all the best for the future. We assume they will be one of the headliners in the next racing season!
