The combination Sauvage-Duran (Bornival, BE) is the new All-Round sensation from Belgium!

This recent partnership(formed in 2007) quickly reached the top level of the Belgian pigeon sport. The season 2015 has been marked by the choice to focus almost exclusively on the long distance races and they both experienced the joy of achieving their first national top 10 positions, which didn't stop them also winning some spectacular performances in the shorter middle distance races where they became a national reference over the last years.

Julien (right) & and his father, Guy.

Do we really need to be surprised at such a successful evolution when we know about the numerous investments which were done to reach this level of racing? The answer is no. Guy and Julien are now managing a loft that doesn't stop to growing and which has now all the necessary accomodations to reach their ambitions. The racers, old birds like young cocks & hens, are housed in a wonderful loft installed in the attic with all the necessary equipment to optimize the situation: heating plates & automatic box for the youngsters. Dry, well aired and well lightened, the pigeons are feeling good and the results are perfect. The breeders are housed in some individual boxes. During the winter, the pigeons are placed in large aviaries where they can stay during the moult.

The investment in the pigeons weren't neglected neither as Julien invested a lot, moreover at Gaby Vandenabeele whose pigeons will soon form the main basis of the loft, their first breeding references being in any case encouraging. Their old basis (pigeons from the late Willy Clerebaut via his cousin Grégory Landercy), complete with the pigeons from Fredereic Beukenne (with a.o. Norma, an exceptional breeding hen), from Marcel Vandenabeele & from Limbourg are still giving some nice satisfaction.
Aware that it is better to stay attentive for the opportunity, Julien continues each year to purchase some pigeons from the best fanciers of Belgium and nothing is too good to be added to his loft. When we see their progression since their formation in 2007, we can't say he is wrong!

The national championships of the KBDB

Since his first classification in the national championships of the KBDB in 2008 (7th national champion yearlings), Julien had the ambition to book at least a classification once a year. We are of course talking about the most prestigious championships from Belgium because all the fanciers from the whole country are facing each other. This is also where you obtain the recognition of all the fanciers from Belgium. It became a real obsession for them who had already had the opportunity to climb twice on the highest rung of the podium. Since 2013, the combination Sauvage-Duran won a total of 8 classifications into the top 6 of the national championships with no less than 5 podiums as you can see on the list below:

- 1st National Ace Pigeon Shorter Middle Distance KBDB 2013
- 1st National Champion Long Distance KBDB 2013
- 2nd National Champion Long Distance KBDB 2015
- 3rd National Champion Shorter Middle Distance Old Pigeons KBDB 2014
- 3rd National Ace Pigeon Shorter Middle Distance Old Pigeons KBDB 2015
- 4th National Ace Pigeon Shorter Middle Distance Old Pigeons KBDB 2014
- 6th National Champion Longer Middle Distance Old Pigeons KBDB 2013
- 6th National Champion Shorter Middle Distance KBDB 2015
- 12th National Champion Yearlings KBDB 2009

In 2015, Julien and Guy missed the title of National Champion Long Distance with a total coefficient of 27.3771% while the National Champion booked a coefficient of 27.3547%, a tiny difference that prevented them being crowned as National Champion in the discipline for the second time in three years. Of course, it is still a wonderful performance that proved that the title won in 2013 wasn't a matter of luck. It also confirms the fact that the partnership decided to focus on the long distance races.

We can find top pigeons behing such results. We listed the most important of them specially for you.

Conclusions

The progression of this partnership has been as quick as lightning and it will be better again in the future. Everything is done to be successful at the racing level and we don't see how it couldn't continue like this. The future will tell us if we were right.
Julien, Guy, we would like to congratulate you for these fantastic results and we wish you a lot of success in 2016!
