A report on the British Barcelona Club any age race from Ilkeston on 20th August 2022

Terry Haley & Jack
Fourteen members sent eighty-nine pigeons to Ilkeston with the British Barcelona Club. They were liberated at 10.00CEST into a light south-westerly breeze. The following is a report on the provisional result based on members' verifications.
Terry Haley & Harry

Terry Haley of Watford timed a yearling on 1398ypm over 97 miles to take first open and first section D. Terry's winner is a blue bar hen, that has previously taken cards in club racing. 

Don Pembroke

D J Pembroke of Reading was second open and second section D with a yearling on 1220ypm over a distance of 105 miles. Don timed another pigeon to also take third open and third section. Both pigeons were bred by Roger Lowe and contain Harry, My Little Diamond, Main Man and Southfield Supreme bloodlines.  

Andrew Hitchcock

Andrew Hitchcock of Windsor timed four pigeons to take fourth, eighth, fourteenth and sixteenth open, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh section D. First on the clock was a yearling on 1121ypm over 108 miles. Andrew's first on the clock is HRP Lillie bred from his long distance Padfield stock with the sire being HRP Star, a double grandson from Padfield Invincible. The dam is HRP St Vincent, a direct daughter of Padfield's St Vincent winner.  

Jamie Wells & Rob Jones

Bartlett, Jones and Wells of Southampton were fifth open and first section A with a four year old hen on 1086ypm over 141 miles. This hen was the partners single entry and was pooled all the way. 

Dave Roberts

D Roberts of Emsworth had two pigeons drop together to take sixth and seventh open, second and third section A. First on the clock was a two year old on 1078.9ypm over a distance of 148 miles. This was a Frans Zwols hen racing to the perch. Next up was a yearling on 1078.6ypm, also containing Frans Zwols' bloodlines this hen was bred by Richard Heron.

Paul Baker & Jane Middleton

Baker and Middleton of Seaford were ninth open and first section G with a yearling on 1025ypm over 157 miles. Paul and Jane timed a grizzle hen containing Dennis Ford bloodlines that they obtained from Tumley Lofts. Named Grace, this hen has flown both north and south this season and it was sent sitting twelve day eggs. 

Steve Travers' hen

S Travers of Poole timed a yearling on 997ypm over a distance of 157 miles to take tenth open and first section B. Steve's section winner was a gift bird from Harris and Edwards of Portsmouth and is bred from old and new Busschaert bloodlines. 

Lanahan & Gerard

Completing the top ten and in second section B are Lanahan and Gerard of Poole with a yearling on 984ypm over 154 miles. The partners timed a second pigeon on 962ypm to also take twelfth open and third section B. 

Around the sections

Pete Gretton of Peacehaven was second section G with a yearling on 963ypm over 161 miles.
