Joël Verschoot (Ingelmunster, BE) wins 1st Prov. La Souterraine Yearlings

After winning 1st National Valence, this provincial win is another highlight in this fantastic season for the Verschoot colony.

The Joël Verschoot colony is on a roll, to say the least. Top results are booked one after the other. After winning 1st National Valence (mid June 2022) the colony of Joël Verschoot is running at full speed. With such sensational results, Joël can already search for his best suit, as it seems inevitable that he will be standing amongst the champions...the best fanciers in Belgium.

Maybe we are repeating ourselves when we write that Verschoot pigeons are at their best under tough conditions. The new national victory on Valence proved this once again. During the tropical weekend of 15-16 July, the races were brought forward to Friday due to the heat...the Verschoot pigeons powered home in tough conditions, a strong headwind and average speeds below 1200 m/min. from La Souterraine and Cahors. The provincial victory on La Souterraine Yearlings was a new highlight in the super season that the Verschoot pigeons are managing. Here are the numbers:

15/7 La Souterraine Provincial 1,429 Yearlings:
1-15-116-170-220-286-292-345-366-450 (10/17)
        La Souterraine Nat, 6,741 Yearlings: 24-122-557-799… (9/17)

15/7 Cahors National 3,018 Old birds: 17-179-301-464-708 (5/6)

From Cahors, the 1st and 2nd nominated pigeons arrived first. Taking part in all races on the national calendar and always performing is special. It is easier said than done. Joël doesn't basket masses of pigeons, but what he baskets is world-class. He manages to clock his 1st and 2nd nominated 5 times this season (on 6 national races). Superb performances, which led to the following results:

Limoges Nat. 17,356 p.: 176-178
Tulle Nat. 9,763 p. 269-1880
Montélimar Nat. 3,387 p.: 34-549
Brive Nat. 6,117 p.: 232-245
Cahors Nat. 3,018 Old birds: 17-179

With 3 weeks of long distance racing to go (with Souillac, Tulle and Libourne still on the program), the goal is to lower the coefficient even more for the National KBDB Championships...although Joël has his 4 races with his 1st and 2nd nominated for the long distance championship in the pocket.

Mona ensures new success with 1st Prov. La Souterraine

In the meantime, the Verschoot pigeons continue to book successes. This time, it is the hen Mona who puts the spotlights on the Verschoot colony by taking the provincial victory from La Souterraine with an average speed of 1125 m/min. The super hen has won prizes 1:10 on all 6 national races on the heavy middle distance, which currently puts her in 9th place in the national best yearling ranking across 6 national races. New top result on Cahors

Part of the team that was raced on Valence and Montélimar, were now basketed for Cahors. With the exception of Bisty who was transferred to the breeding lofts after his national victory on Valence. Nonetheless, Joël had 2 other cracks on which he relied to do the job. Alibaba and Baziel didn't disappoint, quite the contrary.

That Joël Verschoot is having another super season is clear. For those who still want to keep Joël Verschoot off the champions' stage has to manage the impossible. The Verschoot pigeons in top condition are near unstoppable. A huge congratulations to Joël, Dieter and family!
