The name De Saer has been synonymous with spectacular pigeon racing for decades. Especially his achievements at national long distance races, performed since the 90s to the present day, haven’t stopped blowing the minds of friends, as well as rivals. In the small village of Ruiselede, several national victories, KBDB titles, ace pigeons and moreover a long series of extraordinary results, clearly demonstrate that such a level is reserved only for very few. Father Antoine and son Rudi De Saer made back in the day the brilliant move to knock on the door of grandmaster Gaby Vandenabeele, from neighboring Dentergem. This resulted immediately in great performances and the name De Saer claimed its place at the top. After the unfortunate death of his father, son Rudi continued with great perseverance his successful endeavour. The level of achievements continued to skyrocket, and so many other top fanciers came to Ruiselede to strengthen their own line of pigeons.

All these fanciers are successful with pigeons thanks to the brilliant move they’ve made: to strengthen their own colonies with input from Ruiselede. Of course the descendants from that special breeding loft that are raised by Rudi himself are not to be overlooked: the row of top prizes and titles that Rudi manages to achieve every year with his superior racers seems endless ...:
Top prizes at the national competitions achieved by Rudi De Saer himself include:
It is clear that with such a series of super results it’s been raining ace-pigeon titles. National KBDB Ace pigeons of the De Saer breed include:
And he keeps raising the bar
Anyone who has experienced so many highlights and, furthermore, assisted others with increasing their victories, like De Saer, must have an extraordinary breed. This came about in the same way as with other great successes, namely, by setting the bar extremely high and always wanting to do better. This way, one manages to have a colony of pigeons that always and everywhere know how to stand their ground, and we saw for ourselves what a typical “De Saer” day looks like on July 4, 2020. At that time, Rudi's racing team was divided between Limoges (old ones) and Chateauroux (yearlings). In both races, the provincial victory was just missed, and this by 2 half-brothers (from Antonio) who on the same day both won the 2nd provincial in these classics. Tonio (BE18-3030341) won 1st local against 271 p., 2nd prov. / 3,077 p. and 17th national against almost 16,000 pigeons from Limoges. Almost at the same time, Hawk (BE19-3039678) from Chateauroux won the 2nd prov. against no less than 5,555 pigeons, and 45th national against about 10,000 competitors. Both of these top-class birds come from the very best that can currently be found in pigeon land.
In the meantime, and as expected after so many great performances, the colony of Rudi De Saer has grown into one of the very best in the sport, but these pigeons also seem to play extremely well in other lofts. This should come as no surprise, since it is an open secret that the foundation of the De Saer loft was laid by the input of the Gaby Vandenabeele pigeons. This icon in our sport has been there himself long enough to be known for having put countless fellow sports-men on the right track. It seems that Gaby’s neighbor, Rudi, has followed in the footsteps of Vandenabeele. He, too, has helped other fanciers to achieve a series of successes in recent years. The top-class of Rudi’s accomplishments cannot be demonstrated more clearly.
