The sprint national champ of Belgium
Belgian sprint emperor
Indeed, and despite everything that was already written or said in the newspaper or by several other fanciers, only a few pigeon fanciers can show a similar performance list than the champ from Baudour. What Marc just realized is a true demonstration of his strength as he races in a very small combine with small amounts of pigeons. That's why he needs to win top performances at the beginning of the season before most of the pigeons will be basketed into the middle and long distance competition. In addition, Marc is the kind of fancier who can beat whoever he wants with a small basket of 6 pigeons, that's why people are afraid of him! Last year, he decided to race his pigeons at the highest level and entered the middle distance competition and he was directly crowned as National Champion of Belgium in the shorter middle distance competition KBDB for his first year of middle distance racing. What class! He even entered his team into his first national race, Bourges I, which finally became a bad experience for his loft as he lost several of his best pigeons, with a.o. a potential Olympic pigeon! But that day, Marc ended up with a 9th national against 16,859 yearlings, so directly a national top 10 position for his first national race.
Take a look at the impressive performance list won in the national championships of the KBDB:

In fact, Marc is an incredible manager who is at the head of a very small loft (less than 20 widowers and fifty young birds) where the level is really high. The results being magical, the selection level is really high too. This is the secret of his successful pigeon career. As we already stated in a previous report, 'the secret is that there is no secret.' A lot of pigeon fanciers should face the facts and start to seek for the things that are going wrong in their lofts before seeking excuses somewhere else. Marc directly understood it and, despite his great success, he never wanted to raise the amount of pigeons in his lofts as he always prefered to keep control of his business while operating a very strong selection. You will never find a pigeon of two years old without any first prize. Of course, it's a luxury that most fanciers cannot have but everything begins with this. This philosophy, based on the efficiency and not on the luck, has developed in Baudour over the last fifteen years. Now, you can take a look at the result! Moreover, Marc always had lucky hands to strengthen his colony and he almost never had to do a big investment to purchase what he wanted. The basis of his pigeon breed is still based on the pigeons from Michel Ladrière (Bury), Albert Delange (Ath) as well as those from the breeding station Simmons (The Netherlands). Two years ago, Marc purchased several young birds from Joost De Smeyter (Melden), followed last year by ten youngsters bred by the stock pigeons of Adrien Mirabelle (Quaregnon), so that he made sure to add some fresh blood.

The 2013 season
Marc can clearly be satisfied by his season. His racing team smashed the opposition and the harvest is excellent! During the national days in Oostend, our friend climbed on the podium six times as, in addition than his two medals, he was also classified 11th & 17th National Ace Pigeon Sprint as well as 14th & 15th National Ace Pigeon Sprint Youngsters! But it's of course his title of national champion of Belgium that has our interest today and here are the results that made him become a champion... again:

'Polo', 2nd National Ace Pigeon Sprint KBDB 2013
This year, the racing team was led by a splendid blue cock christened Polo. This pigeon has a terrific performance list with no less than 7 single first prizes! He was bred from the golden pair of the loft and so, he is a full brother of the numerous champions who left a mark on the loft, for example, Blue Mirakel (1st National Ace Pigeon Sprint '08), L'éclair (9th national Bourges 2012), etc. In addition, the mother of his father is nothing but the nest sister of the 1st National Ace Pigeon Sprint 2002! Top class and a true mastership for the crossing between the different lines of this loft!
