National Flying Club Saintes winner for Mark Gilbert
First open, first section E was another fantastic performance from Mark Gilbert of Winkfield. Mark's pigeon this time was a yearling widowhood hen from a son of Southfield Supreme, first international Dax when paired to a daughter of Euro Diamond. The sire is a double grandson of George, the father of Euro Diamond and Mistral.
Main Man - Roger Lowe's pigeon
Taking second and third open, second and third section E is Roger Lowe from Reading. Another consistent fancier Roger clocked a two year old and a yearling respectively.
Crammond & Langstaff
First section A and tenth open went to the Fontwell lofts of Crammond and Langstaff, their fourth section win from Saintes in five years. Ian and Nigel clocked a yearling cock of Kees Boshua x Peter Van Osch bloodlines. This bird had already won second section British Barcelona Club from Niort this season.
Mr and Mr Waterhouse
Section B and sixth open, was won by Mr and Mrs David Waterhouse from Portsmouth. Lisa's Lad is a widowhood cock of Koopman x Van Loon breeding. The partnership feed a super widowhood mix and plenty of conditioner. They fly a small team of only eight widowhood cocks.
Nigel Spracken of Spracklen and Thomas
Spracklen and Thomas from Dorchester topped section C and were forty ninth open. Their winner, a chequer hen named Lillykins is bred down from stock the partnership obtained from Mark Gilbert. The sire is a son of Southfield Pau and the dam is a daughter of Southfield Treble.
Brian Reene of B Reene and Son
The winner in section D and taking two hundred and eightieth open is the partnership of Brian Reene and Son from Honiton, Devon. Rooster is a two year old blue cock which was sent feeding a five day old squeaker. His breeding is Busschaert x Soontjen from Brian's number one stock pair.
J Parker and son of J & P Parker
First and second section F and seventh and eighth open was clocked by J & P Parker from Reading. Their first pigeon was a six year old blue hen with Gaby x Ian Stafford bloodlines. Their second was a pied hen bred out of Ian Stafford stock.
Joe Raeburn
Joe Raeburn of Melksham in Wiltshire was first section G, twenty third open. His section winner is a two year Gaby Vandenabeele widowhood cock, the sire of which came from Mel and Sue King of Blandford Forum. The dam came from Formula One Lofts and is from a son of Rolls Royce paired to a granddaughter of the same bird.
First section H and fifty first open was clocked by R W Brocklesbury from Boston in Lincolnshire. The winning pigeon is a mealy cock flown on widowhood and bred from a Tournier based Janssen when paired to a bird from Brian Denny. This pigeon was a gift from John Crease of Olbeach and its sire was first section H from Saintes in 2010.
Neil Inger of G Inger and Son
G Inger and Son from Nottingham won section I and thirty third open. Neil clocked a four year old, blue, white flight hen of Van Loon bloodlines. She has previously won first section NFC St Malo in 2010 and eighth section NFC Saintes in 2011.
Emma and Tori Hamplet, Johnathan's daughters
The Stafford loft of Johnathan Hamplett won section J and twelfth open. This was a three year old, red cock called Mr Reliable whose breeding is Robert Venus x Joris Blomme. In 2011 he was ninth section from Cholet and twelfth section from Saintes. This season he was fourth section in the Midland National Flying Club race from Fougeres.
Nigel Dennett of R & N Dennett
First section K and eleventh open was clocked by the partnership of R & N Dennett from Meden Vale in Nottinghamshire. This is their third section win this season and they clocked another to take probable second section as well. The winning bird was bred by Terry Scott in 2009 and has been over the channel numerous times. The partnership have sent to every national flying Club race this season and have not dropped a single bird.
Bob (L) and Brian (R) Smith
First section L and thirteenth open went to the Burtonwood lofts of R & B Smith. This was a two year old, blue chequer hen bred from the best bloodlines the partnership have. A prominent part of her breeding was a Brian Dearn cock which the partnership credit with having a huge influence on their breeding lines.
So, the final old bird race for the National Flying Club went very well, with six section winners in the top twelve of the result an indication of the fairness of the race overall.
