Filippo Roncella, Felino (IT)
Filippo Roncella, is born in 1967 and breed racing pigeons since 1982.
Filippo live in a little village called Felino. Felino is about 17 Km from Parma,(the italian "Food Valley", famous for the Parmesan Cheese, Parma ham, salami, pasta, wines) in Northern Italy In the years many pigeons are introduced from the best loft of Belgium, Holland and Germany. Now in the breeder loft there are for the 90% pigeons directly imported from the close Dutch friend Maurice Van der Kruk from Tiel. In these pigeons we can find: Janssens, Van Loon, De Klak, P. Van Gompel, Nellis Van De Pol, Romein.
The lofts are in the beautiful garden behind the home. The first racers' loft is 6 metres long and 2 metres depth: it has 3 rooms (2 for the 16 widowers male and 1 for the 16 racing widowers hens). The second racers' loft is 7,5 metres long and it has only 2 rooms (1 for the 24 widowers male and 1 for the 16 hens). The new young pigeons' loft, made by Punt, was build in 2006 and it's 7,50 metres long: it has 3 rooms and can receive 120 pigeons.
The 2 lofts with aviary are for the 24 breeders couples. Another new Punt's loft (3 metres long and 2 depth) is for the young pigeons born in the summer time: this loft can receive 50 pigeons. The favourite races are short (200-300 km) and middle (350-500 km) distance with the old and also the young pigeons. Some pigeons fly the long distance (800 Km). The old Bird's season starts the first week of April and finishes in the end of July.
The young bird's season starts in the first week of July and finishes about in the end of September. (In August we haven't any race in Italy). For the old pigeons race the system is total-widowhood system (all the cocks and the hens are for the races). From 2007 the hens only train once a day from 6.00 until 7.00 o'clock in the morning, the cocks get to train after the hens, from 7.00 o'clock until 8.0. In the past all the pigeons fly in the afternon. For the young pigeons the system is separates sex and the sliding doors system. The time for train is in the afternoon, 1-2 hours. All the pigeons are clocked with the Tipes electronic clocking.
