Vermeerbergen - Wilms (Mol, BE) dominate a demanding Argenton III winning a 1st and 2nd National Zone B2 and a 3rd and 4th National

The Vermeerbergen-Wilms combination from Mol has done it again: they set their sights on one particular race and they were simply outstanding that day, claiming gold and silver both in the province and the zone. They had 4 pigeons in the national top 60, including a 3rd and 4th national!

Robby Wilms (l) and Luc Vermeerbergen (r)

A success story

The achievements of the combination from Mol are hard to keep track of, although most of you will remember their major feat from 2015, when they claimed an unprecedented 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th national of 10,442 young birds in Chateauroux, which had never been done before. They were very strong in 2016 and 2017 as well, and despite selling their entire breeding collection on PIPA in the spring of 2017, Robby and Luc continued to deliver this season: their young birds have been doing really well throughout 2018. About six weeks ago we published an article about the race from Momignies, where they claimed the first 8 prizes of 563 young birds. And that was just one of many astounding results from this team in recent months.

National Argenton III

The entire racing team was in excellent form for the national race from Argenton III. You could tell from the result in Melun, one week before Argenton. Ten pigeons were clocked within 90 seconds' time that day:

535 young birds: 2-6-13-16-17-18-18-20-20-22-24-29-30-35-36-49-... (29/40)

The race from Argenton was a particularly tough flight, with just two pigeons faster than 1,200 m/min. There was a northeasterly wind and the sun was beating down the entire day, making this a perfect day for strong and healthy pigeons in great form. Despite having a slight disadvantage, the racing team of Vermeerbergen-Wilms had a field day:

Molse Fondclub - 241 YBs: 1-2-4-5-9-13-14-16-18-19-20-21-24-... (27/37)
East Antwerp Long Distance competition - 304 YBs: 1-2-4-5-9-13-14-16-18-19-20-21-24-26-27-30-...(28/37)
Provincial - 2,998 YBs: 1-2-18-26-85-107-126-181-196-200-244-252-268-275-282-288-...(29/37)
National Zone B2 - 3,421 YBs: 1-2-10-15-37-50-58-90-98-101-126-133-139-142-146-159-167-185-
                                 235-324-328-... (27/37)
National - 16,496: 3-4-31-53-168-210-234-372-404-412-536-561-590-607-625-664-708-788-1,026-

This was a magnificent result, with 5 pigeons in the provincial top 100, an impressive 9 pigeons in Zone B2 national, and 4 pigeons in the national top 55. The team clocked 17 pigeons per 20 in Zone B2, 21 pigeons per 10, as well as an impressive 18 pigeons per 20 and 22 pigeons per 10 at national level! This is quite impressive.

The team had also basketed 5 pigeons for Quievrain that weekend, and they won a 2-3-5-7-36 (5/5) of 493 pigeons. These prizes were won in rijkevorsel (for Vermeerbergen-Wilms-Mostmans).
