Jespers - Vanderwegen (Holsbeek, BE) wins 1st Provincial Blois

This provincial first prize is definitely not the first major result for the team from Holsbeek, Flemish Brabant. Herman and Johny have been doing really well in the longer middle distance in recent years, claiming several top prizes and even provincial first prizes.

Kleine Dirk's invaluable descendants

Jespers-Vandewegen has become quite successful in large part thanks to stock breeder Kleine Dirk BE03-6086339, which comes straight from Antwerp champion Dirk Van Dijck (Zandhoven, BE). He is a grandson of Den Bourges, a renowned racing and breeding bird for Dirk. Kleine Dirk rapidly developed into a world class breeding bird, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren are now getting great results in the longer middle distance. The team's winning streak began in 2014, when 2 grandchildren claimed a 1st and 3rd National La Souterraine, and in 2015, when Super Ricka claimed the title of 1st National Ace Pigeon Longer Middle Distance KBDB YBs. The descendants of Kleine Dirk have continued to deliver since. A genuine Kleine Dirk dynasty is really starting to take shape now.

BE18-2010030 - 1st Provincial Blois of 571 pigeons

This has been a season only suited for the strongest of birds, with strong headwinds and high temperatures almost on a weekly basis. Only the strongest pigeons are able to win top results in 2018, and that includes the provincial winner from Blois from two weeks earlier. She is a sister of the 1st Provincial Bourges 2017 of 3,126 pigeons. She finished in 15th place national of 38,456 pigeons.

The provincial winner

The sire of the winning hen is Pedro, a 100% Paul Huls, and a grandson of De Zoon, in turn a son of Paulien. Pedro is a grandson of Black Jack from his mother's side, 1st Olympiad Pigeon Allround Belgium 2007.

The dam is Miss Lloyd, a talented racing hen at national level, having won a 146th National Bourges of 21,522 pigeons, a 129th National La Souterraine of 2,548 pigeons, a 138th National Issoudun of 2,212 pigeons, etc. Miss Lloyd is a granddaughter of stock breeder Kleine Dirk from her father's side, through top breeder Bauer (the sire of a 7th National Argenton, a 97th National Chateauroux, a 54th National Bourges, etc). She is also related to the invaluable Olympic Lloyd through her mother's side; a 1st Olympiad Pigeon Poland 2011 and 3rd Europe Cup Allround.

On to the nationals

We have the national young birds' races coming up now, and these will be the team's most important races, especially given the excellent results of the young birds so far. If the team can continue to perform like that, they are likely to get some excellent results, be it at provincial, zonal, or national level. To be continued!
