A household name in pigeon racing
We have seen many top players come and go at the highest level; most successful pigeon lofts inevitably fail to deliver the same results every single season. Yet, there is a select group of fanciers that perform at a high level season after season, winning one victory after another. Freddy and Jacques Vandenheede from Zingem are one of them. We reckon the two brothers need no further introduction, except perhaps for those of you that have been living under a rock for the past few decades. Nonetheless, the two brothers have won an exceptional number of top prizes since 2008, the year when they decided to form a team: they have 8 national, 20 zonal and 34 provincial victories on their palmares since 2008! Their list of achievements is even more impressive if you take into account their results from before the collaboration: 15 national, 25 zonal and 56 provincial first prizes.

Brillian results, both with a small and a large team basket
It is a fact that team Vandenheede like to compete in races with a large group of racing birds, which allows them to achieve some impressive overall results from time to time. But they enjoy working with smaller teams just as much, and they have managed to dominate races with these smaller teams as well. This goes to show that a top quality breed will always have great potential, no matter the conditions.

The team of Freddy and Jacques Vandenheede is arguably one of the strongest longer middle distance and long distance pigeon lofts of the past decades. Their exceptional palmares makes you wonder if they can still find the motivation to keep going. Keep in mind the two brothers have won almost everything there is to win in our sport. What keeps them motivated is the ambition to try and improve their existing breed and to try to push their limits. The team of yearlings of 2016 has proven to be a very promising generation and offers great prospects for next year. And there is more: the fanciers from Zingem have been working on a racing team for the extreme long distance as well. Their results in the 2016 race from Perpignan (9th and 153rd International) give us a glimpse of their ambitions for the next few years. To be continued!
