It is no secret that the pigeons of Rik Cools in Flanders have quite a few tricks up their sleeves. His team of hens gave it their best in the race from Clermont on 9 May, achieving a brilliant overall result.
The fastest two pigeons landed on the board simultaneously, and an additional three pigeons arrived home just one minute later. Together they won a 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 7th prize against 6,559 yearlings. Five pigeons from one and the same loft have managed to leave behind a group of thousands of pigeons behind, which is nothing short of impressive!
The winning hen BE14-3135637 comes from his colleague Chris De Backer, being a grandchild of Tony x inbreed Emma (a super class breeding hen in the collection of Rik Cools). Click here for the full pedigree.
The other pigeon that landed on the board simultaneously was BE14-3115054; she was the second to enter the loft, which is why she won the second prize. She was bred from the current best bloodlines of Rik Cools. Click here for the full pedigree.
Congratulations Rik!
