Wendela Wiersema (Appingedam, NL) stands her ground in 2022

Wendela and Elianne Wiersema, two women with 1 mission  

Following Wendela, her sister Elianne has also taken up pigeon sport. Both race cocks and hens (double widowhood) and young birds. The hens and young birds of both women are housed on the same loft, for the most part taken care of by Wendela. The cocks of Wendela and Elianne each have their own lofts and also taken care of by their respective owners. It brings the best out of both fanciers. They battle with the competition in Afdeling 10 North-Eastern Netherlands and sometimes are each other's biggest competitors. Wendela is can no longer fly under the radar. In 2017 and 2021 she became National NPO Champion Young birds Not Nominated and won the title of 1st PIPA Ranking Best Short Distance Young bird The Netherlands - 4 prizes. Furthermore, in 2017, she shined with Runner Up Ace who was crowned 2nd National NPO Ace Pigeon Young birds. Many of the pigeons which now manage sublime performances in Appingedam are related to this fantastic cock. 

Season overview 2022

In 2022, they participated in all the races on the program of Afdeling 10, with exception of the extreme long distance races. The performances in Rayon 2 lead to several championship titles for both Wendela and Elianne. Especially on the middle distance races both women gave the competition little chance. The race which they completely dominated in 2020 was Chalons en Champagne in the first weekend of July. On this race across 515km there were a 1,566 pigeons basketed in Rayon 2. Elianne came out on top with 1st and 2nd whilst Wendela completed the party with 3rd, 5th and 8th. Together they basketed 38 pigeons on this race, of which 32 won prizes. In Afdeling 10 (7,464 pigeons) the pigeons of Elianne won 4th and 5th place, taking a neat Top 10 spot. Wendela showed her class on the short distance race from Weert on June 11th. She struck hard with 1st, 2nd and 3rd against 2,032 pigeons. Wendela was also found high up on the results list on Dizy le Gros (456km) with 8th against 5,418 pigeons and on the tough long distance race from Sens where she took silver in Afdeling 10 North against 1,557 pigeons. Jackpot Noortje, 1st Ace Pigeon Middle Distance and Allround  

We start the introduction of top pigeons who managed to outclass the competition with NL21-4770166 Jackpot Noortje. This yearling hen became a/o 1st Ace Pigeon Middle Distance and 1st Ace Pigeon Allround in Rayon 2 Afdeling 10. In the whole of Afdeling 10 she became 4th Ace Pigeon Middle Distance and 5th Ace Pigeon Allround. Father of Jackpot Noortje (who himself won 2nd Weer against 2,032 pigeons in 2022) is a son of NL17-4708967 Vince, 10th PIPA Ranking Best Middle Distance Pigeon of The Netherlands 2018 - 4 prizes x  NL19-1031021 Noortje, 1st PIPA Ranking Best Short Distance Young bird of The Netherlands 2019 - 4 prizes. Mother of Jackpot Noortje was bred by PIPA Breeding. NL21-4770191 Sylvester, 8th National NPO Ace Pigeon Middle Distance

Another star of 2022 which grew out to one of the figureheads on the lofts of Wendela is NL21-4770191 Sylvester. This yearling cock became 1st National Ace Pigeon Middle Distance Youth - 25. Amongst the seniors, Sylvester became 8th National NPO Ace Pigeon Middle Distance. The foundation for these fantastic achievements were laid a/o on Dizy le Gros (456 km with a strong headwind) where Sylvester took 1st against 813 pigeons in CC DOP (8th Afdeling 10 against 5,618 pigeons). The father of Sylvester is a son of NL16-4789225 Father Runner Up Ace (father 2nd National Ace Pigeon Young birds NPO) x NL10-1000657 Krasje 657 (mother of cracks such as Stippie, Brother Stippie, Mother Runner Up Ace and 15-679, 1st NPO). The mother of Sylvester is BE17-6206283 Dionne Kannibaal bred by Op de Beeck-Baetens. Dionne Kannibaal is a steady force on the breeding loft of Wendela. NL21-4770145 Max wins a/o 1st Weert against 2,805 pigeons

NL21-4770145 Max started 2022 where he left off in 2021. Winning. In 2021, Max won the last race from Burdinne, taking 1st against 3,478 pigeons (Rayon 1-4 Afdeling 10). In 2022, Max won the second short distance race of the season, taking 1st Weert (CC DOP) against 2,805 pigeons. Later in the season there was another race from Weert and Max showed he is in his element on this race taking 3rd (behind 2 loft mates) against 2,032 pigeons (Rayon 2 Afd. 10). Father of Max was bred by PIPA Breeding from BE17-1019414 Junior (2nd Nat. Ace Pigeon KBDB Sprint 2018) who in turn is a son of BE15-1029362 Best Kittel. The mother of Max is NL18-4722968 Sister Runner Up Ace who won races from Tongeren, Duiven and Arlon. The mother of Max is grandmother of a/o Bartje, fastest from Burdinne of Afdeling 10 and 11 against 22,841 pigeons. 

NL21-4770191 Gr. Daughtr Jappeloup wins 2nd NPO Sens 

Wendela also showed to be more than capable of racing NPO long distance races. On the races Sourdun (585 km), Sens (624 km) and Saulieu (696 km) she basketed a total of 15 pigeons, of which 9 won prizes. The most beautiful performance was on account of NL21-4770194 Gr.Daughter Jappeloup. This yearling hen won 2nd NPO Sens against 1,557 pigeons in Afdeling 10. She is a daughter of Father Runner Up Ace and thereby a half-sister of Runner Up Ace. Gr. Daughter Jappeloup previously won a/o 2nd Reims (654 p.), 3rd NPO Reims (1,976 p.), 7th Sourdun (725 p.) and 11th NPO Reims (6,045 p.).

NL21-4770277 Luna shines as 5th National Ace Pigeon Allround for sister Elianne 

Sister Elianne also raced some phenomenal pigeons in 2022. One of which is the yearling hen NL21-4770277 Luna who became 5th National NPO Ace Pigeon Youth -25. On the race from Venlo she won the 1st against 1,481 pigeons in CC DOP. On Chalons en Champagne (515km) Luna even shifted into a higher gear. She was not only the winner in CC DOP against 1,176 pigeons but also won the race in Rayon 2 (Afd. 10) against 1,566 pigeons. In Afdeling 10 this was good for a 4th place against 7,464 pigeons. On this race, Elianne also won 5th place in the Afdeling 10. The father of Luna is a son of Runner Up Ace. The mother of Luna is Blue Wonder. Blue Wonder showed herself on the racing loft with several top results until she was injured by a bird of prey. Thereafter, she got her chance on the breeding lofts and didn't disappoint. Besides that she is the mother of Luna, she is also mother of 1st Prov. Arlon, 1st semi-Prov. Rethel, 1st Maaseik, 1st Arlon, etc., ...

DV1182-20-293 Raina becomes 2nd Nat. Ace Pigeon Youth -25 2022

The last pigeon we will introduce is DV1182-20-293 Raina. This hen was bred by German champion R. Schwarte (winner Golden Pigeon Germany 2021). Raina was part of the racing team of Elianna and achieved phenomenal results. This resulted in a/o the following titles;

Wendela Wiersema has shown to be a force to be reckoned with for quite some years, and shows time and time again to belong to the absolute best. With her sister as an example, Elianne has also found her way to the top. The other fanciers in Afdeling 10 are often beaten by the drive of these young women. We couldn't wish for better role models in our sport.
