A report on the provisional result of the Central Southern Classic Flying Club race from Perth on 25th June 2022

Ninety-eight members sent 831 pigeons to Perth with the Central Southern Classic Flying Club. They were liberated at 07.30CEST. The following is a report on the provisional result based on members' verifications.

First open and first SE section was won by P Ayling of Gosport with a yearling hen on 950ypm over 399 miles. The sire of the winner was bred by Jimmy Wearn from a son of Starlight x Melissa, that is the sire of Ernie's Bluestar, 1st NFC Tarbes, when paired to a full sister of The Proof. The dam was bred by Graham Matthews from his Delbar family of pigeons. It was raced on a form of the roundabout system. 

Lee Patterson's cock

L Patterson of Portsmouth was second open and second SE section with a five year old on 937ypm over a distance of 399 miles. Lee timed a cock from his old distance family of pigeon that were nearly wiped out by an aggressive case of e-coli in 2017. It is bred down from Tim Joy Steele's Busschaert, three times in the top fifty in the classic from Bergerac. 

Darren, Ellouise, Franklin & Emilia Ede

Darren Ede and Family of Southampton timed a yearling on 933.08ypm over 392 miles to take third open and third SE section. Darren timed the same cock that was third section, eleventh open Elgin in 2021. The sire is a Darren McFadden cock that is turning out to be a super breeder. The dam is a daughter of Mark Gilbert's super racer, Iron Man. Darren had seventeen out of nineteen home by lunchtime on the Sunday. 

Erik Neilson

Wearn Brothers and Neilson of Ramsdean were fourth open and fourth SE section with a three year old on 933.04ypm over 389 miles. The partners clocked a Tim Hague x New Laureaat x Special One from their good friend Nigel Langstaff. It was second section from Hexham last season. 

John Rodway

John Rodway of Rushwick was fifth open and first NW section with a three year old chequer hen on 925ypm over 287 miles. A steady performer this hen was second back to the loft from the last classic race from Hexham. John keeps his pigeons as natural as possible with young and old living together and choosing their own mates. 

Booth & Roper

Booth and Roper of Tewkesbury timed a two year old on 924ypm over 310 miles to take sixth open and second NW section. The sire of Trevor and John's dark chequer hen was bred by Tony Cowan from Sheppard's Delight 3 x 1st Barcelona and the sire's dam is a full sister to Olympic Ric. The grand-dam comes from the partner's good hen, Sportsview Diamond. 

Richie Thomas

R Thomas of Portsmouth was seventh open and fifth SE section with a three year old on 916ypm over a distance of 398 miles. Richie timed a widowhood pigeon bred from his old channel family of birds. 

Philip Duckett

P Duckett of Highbridge clocked a yearling on 914ypm over 362 miles to take eighth open and third NW section. Phil timed a cock on its tenth race of the season. It is bred from from Gaby Vandenabeele bloodlines via Louella Pigeon World. 

Kevin Bakes

Mr and Mrs Bakes of Havant were ninth open and sixth SE section with a two year old on 904ypm over 398 miles. Kevin's hen is bred from direct Bernard Deweerdt of Kortemark purchased on one of his visits with his good friend Guy Reed. 

Luff & Walker Brothers

Completing the top ten and in fourth NW section are Luff and Walker Brothers from Dursley with a two year old on 989ypm over a distance of 329 miles. Stuart, Phil and Steve had two birds drop together and first to time was a cock raced to twelve day eggs and called Mashed Up as he hit wires twice as a young bird. The sire and dam were both Formula One Lofts' Frans Zwols with the sire direct from Amor x Tip Top Princess and the dam direct from Mr Cool x Isabell.

Mel & Sue King

Mel and Sue King of Blandford Forum were the SW section winners with a two year old cock on 884ypm over 391 miles. Flown on a celibate x roundabout system this cock was previously 1st section, 5th open from Berwick in 2021. The sire is a son of Padfield Invincible from the House of Aarden Stud. The dam was bred by Joe Raeburn and is a daughter of Litton Glory. 

Clive Harrison's cock

C Harrison of Dorchester was the SW section runner-up, timing a three year old on 864ypm over 396 miles. Clive's winning cock was flown on the roundabout system and contains D and J Staddon and A Cowan bloodlines. 

Gary Bicknell

G and M Bicknell of Reading won the NE section with a three year old on 830ypm over 357 miles. Gary timed a dark chequer hen that was previously third section from Wakefield. 

Jim Derbyshire

James Derbyshire of Whitchurch clocked a four year old cock on 827ypm over 369 miles to take second NE section. Jim bought this cock as a youngster from JPS Lofts of Reading and its breeding contains Marshall's Machine Family bloodlines.
