A brand new national victory for Kevin Saudoyez (Tertre, BE) from Châteauroux III !

His hometown Tertre has already had several top fanciers at local level but he definitely made it worldwide famous thanks to his marvellous results: Kevin Saudoyez, 28 years old, just won his second national victory in only two years' time.

Kevin found himself under the international spotlight for the first time in 2016, and today he is one of the leading figures of a new Belgian generation that is taking power in this country. We must remind you that in 2016 he had already won the 1st national Argenton against 18,390 yearlings, a season that resulted in the title of 2nd National Ace Great Middle Distance Yl KBDB. Fantastic!
We must say that Kévin had made up his mind fairly quickly, opting to focus on the national & interprovincial races of the longer middle distance, for which he enters his birds each week. This allows him to focus only on this discipline, with the results we already know. He is very demanding towards his pigeons and they have to fly hard throughout the season if they want to pass the selection process. On Châteauroux III, a few pigeons were completing already their 12th or 13th race of more than 400 kilometers, mostly the hens. Apparently they still had enough left in the tank, as Kevin booked another astonishing result in the three categories - despite the race being delayed until Monday - including most notably a national victory in the yearlings' category.
Clocked at 12h43''52 after a race of 433 kilometers, his dark chequered hen reached an average speed of 1,381.71 m/min.

Additional motivation

We already know that the Saudoyez pigeons are destined to race only in the longer middle distance races, including the last races on the national calendar. It's the reason why all the racers were darkened early in 2017 up until the middle of April. This allowed them to do not start moulting too quickly (the national winner only moulted 2 pens) but also to keep all the racing hens quiet before the start of the season. Since Kevin wanted to try his luck on the last national races from the calendar, the pigeons were lightened in June, and this from 05h until 07h in the morning to start again from 19h up until 10h45 in the evening. With this method, the small feathers are not moulted and the condition is improved. So much for the theory.
As a result of this approach he sort of had to reboot his entire racing team, as the racing campaign had been quite long and at times fairly demanding. That's why the olds, the yearlings and the youngsters from the same sex flew home together the week before Bourges. This proved very useful for the pigeons that had been in widowhood from the very start and that were gradually inching towards the end of their season. This has probably had an impact on the motivation of the future national winners from Châteauroux!

Congratulations to the whole family with another five star performance!
