Philippe Frédérick (Lens, BE), owner of prestigious strains into his F.B.I.B.F.

Recognized within our sport thank to his impressive results in the speed races since his beginning in the '80's, the Frédérick colony is now located in Lens (north of Mons, Wallonia) and the objectives of this guy are still very ambitious !

Philippe became a pigeon fancier in 1981 when he was aged 15 years. He is the 5th generation of pigeon fanciers from his family who first contracted the pigeon bug around 1870. Like we often say: 'he was born a pigeon fancier'. With the help of his father, he became one of the best belgian sprint racers so that his name reached our ears really fast. Here are the figures:

828x 1st price without dubblings
15x 1st provincial champion KBDB
6 classifications into the sprint national championship KBDB (5x into the top 8)
12 classifications into the national championships KBDB
3x 1st National Champion Sprint B.D.S.
3x 2nd National Champion Sprint B.D.S.

History & building of the loft
Father & son were very successful with local pigeons that they brought in, including the discovery of a golden pair formed by a cock from Dutranoit and a hen from the late Constant Rahier, one of the best pigeon fanciers from the area of Liège over the last century. Out of this pair, they bred their first ace pigeons like 'Top Gun' (1st Provincial Ace Pigeon Sprint KBDB & 3rd National Ace Pigeon Sprint KBDB '87), 'Crack 60' (1st Provincial Ace Pigeon Sprint KBDB '85) and 'Playboy' (2nd Provincial Ace Pigeon Sprint KBDB).

However, Philippe had a lot of ambition and he quickly realised that the easiest way to reach his objective was to buy pigeons from superior quality fanciers. He always thought that quality pigeons would make the difference, if they receive the best care of course. That's how they went to visit one of the pigeon fanciers with the best reputation at this time, Jan Grondelaers. In 1991, in Opglabbeek, they bought a grandson and a grand daughter of the famous 'Elfpender' as well as a daughter of the super 'Zitter' who had just won the 3rd national Limoges from 9.671 pigeons. This hen (christened 'Daughter Zitter') will soon become a 5 star breeding hen because she bred the cracking 'Orléans' (22x 1st with 1st provincial Orléans 3.856 pigeons). Seven years later, Philippe went to Scherpeneuvel to visit Gommaire Verbruggen and it was  here that he bought top descendants from Gommaire's best pigeons.  In 2001, Philippe made one of the most important meetings of his life when he was introduced to Jos & Jules Engels from Putte. Needless to say, he went there to buy the cream of the crop of the breeding loft from these two maestros of the pigeon sport. Our friend did himself a favour in Putte as he bought direct youngsters from the '231' (basis pigeon), from the '178', from the '734' (2nd semi-national Argenton), from the 'Argenton' (1st national Argenton '05), from the '030' (1st zonal Argenton, semi-brother of 'Marieke'), from the '055' (4x top 5 semi-nat or nat), from the '584' (1st semi-nat Châteauroux), from the 'Superkweker 698' (grand-father of the terrific 'Marieke'), etc. In 10 years, he bought more or less 50 direct Engels pigeons! This is one of the biggest Engels collections in the world! It is worth saying that the blood of these pigeons runs in the majority of the racers from the loft which achieved a terrific 2011 season!

We can also count on the entry of pigeons coming from lofts racing at the top in the sprint races for the last few decades in Belgium: Frans Maris (Itegem), Fonne Van Hoof (Itegem) and the unfamous Louis Van Loon (Poppel).

'Silver Pearl', descendant of the old basis Van Loon and star of the racing loft.

Due to the health problems of his father, Philippe was obliged to move to another home to continue his hobby. He decided to race in partnership with his friend Henri Mélard from Valmeer (Limburg). Despite their excellent results (they were crowned 2nd national champion sprint/middle distance KBDB '07), they decided to discontinue their partnership in 2010 because Philippe was now living in Lens in the province of Hainaut (situated 15km to the north of Mons) and he wanted to continue his come back with his wife, Martine Breuse, who was also from a pigeon family of the Mons area. In addition they wanted to extend their ambitions because Philippe & Martine decided to take part in the long distance and extra long distance races while still entering their pigeons into the sprint races, the first love of Philippe. In a few years, it will be a real all round colony! To achieve his aims, Phillipe was obliged to research some new breeding material. He bought pigeons from Danny Van Dyck (Pulle), former national champion with his youngsters and where Phillipe only bought pigeons closely related to his national Ace pigeon. He aso bought 20 pigeons from Alain & Luc Vandenbergh (Ronquières), 15 pigeons from Johan Donckers (Grobbendonk), pigeons from Yvon Deneufbourg  from Estinnes with direct descendants from his very best pigeons like 'Elite', 'Souillac', 'Pau 41' and also 'Petit Béziers'. Phillipe also bought pigeons from André Allemeersch with the introduction of about 20 pigeons related to the 'Supercrack', to the 'Dikken', to the 'Laten' and to  'Châteauroux', and  the 'Favoriet', etc.

You will have noticed that our friend knows how to fill his loft with top quality pigeons and that he doesn't begrudge spending his money to obtain the best of the best. That's why he visited two of the lofts with the best reputations in the world, namely Gaby Vandenabeele and Marcel Aelbrecht, these are lofts that we don't need to report on again as they are well known to fanciers all over the world. In Dentergem, he bought several pigeons, including a direct daughter of the 'Bliksem' who represents almost alone the post 'Wittenbuik' period. In Lebbeke, one of the pigeons he obtained was a grandson of the famous 'Bak 17' pair and two grandchildren of the 'Brother Smallen 970/96'.

With such a potential in the breeding loft, Philippe & Martine decided to found the F.B.I.B.F. (Frédérick-Breuse International Breeding Farm) and pigeon fanciers from all over the world now have the possibility of obtaining the youngsters out of these prestigious pigeons.
