The Black Power line keeps producing winners for Hardy Krüger (Rommerskirchen, DE)

It was at the turn of the new millennium, in the year 2000, that Hardy Krüger rung a pigeon that would go on to become the cornerstone of his loft for years to come. The pigeon in question was the famous Black Power; Hardy could never have dreamt of the success that would emanate from this great champion.

Second-generation champions

Hardy’s principle race winners of 2015 again show the prominence of Black Power. Of his 7 big winners from the 2015 season, no less than 5 are grandchildren of Black Power. The other two first prizes were won by the last son from Black Power in the race team, namely Black King. It really is incredible how, fifteen years after the Stamvader was born, he is still so important to the Krüger loft.

Performances week after week

When we talk about the Hardy Krüger breed, it is important to focus on the consistency of the pigeons throughout the season. We are all aiming for the first prize winner each weekend during the racing season and it would appear that the Krüger pigeons have the special talent of finding their way to the front of the convoy and staying there. However their performances show that they do not do this on the odd occasion during the season; they do it week after week!

South African Million Dollar Race

A report on Hardy Krüger is not complete unless we mention his performances in the Million Dollar Pigeon race in South Africa. The Krügers are known for their stamina over an entire season and this ability clearly held Hardy’s team of five birds (Katniss, Green Monkey, Seattle Dancer, Samurai and Mystic Park) in good stead in the 2015 race. They performed with distinction by recording 20 x top 100 positions throughout the series of training flights and hot spot races. The ace racer must be Katniss for she won 1st (3418 birds), 15th (2762 birds), 22nd (2459 birds), 47th (2465 birds), 62nd (3809 birds) and 72nd (2831 birds). Katniss is the nest mate to Black Diamond, the winner of 3 x 1st prize in 2015. Read all about Katniss's ancestors here.
