Olympic Nicole's Olympiad nomination for Poznan was of course one of the big highlights last year. Her racing career has now come to an end but Olympic Nicole has continued to play an important role in this team, now as a breeding hen. It is clear that her youngsters are almost just as talented as their dam. For instance, one of Olympic Nicole's daughters claimed a 1st Quievrain of 10,492 pigeons this season (for our race report, click here).

NL16-1176076 Olympic Nicole
Like we said, the absolute number one pigeon in the lofts of Kas & Karel is of course the incredible Olympic Nicole, which claimed as many as 8 first prizes over the course of her two year racing career:
1st Boxtel 7,115 p. 1st Boxtel 1,315 p. 1st Tilburg 1,219 p. 1st Quievrain 325 p. 1st Boxtel 252 p. 1st Charleville 208 p. 1st Quievrain 112 p. 1st Isnes 106 p. etc...
Olympic Nicole is related to the Leo Heremans bloodlines from her father's side. Her sire is NL14-1573085, Duiver Olympic Pair, and he originates from two direct Leo Heremans birds: Blauwe Maurice BE07-6371140 brother Finette (an Olympiad Pigeon for the Eijerkamp family), paired to BE12-6123887. The dam of Olympic Nicole is BE15-6108377 Blauw Beertje, a direct Stefaan Lambrechts. Her sire is the last son of Donkere Bart (BE13-6321373). This pigeon is the sire of Henkie, a 10th National Ace Pigeon shorter middle distance KBDB 2018, besides being the grandfather of Olympic Nicole. Click here for Olympic Nicole's full pedigree.
As it turns out, Olympic Nicole was not just a talented racing hen but also a truly brilliant breeding bird. She did not breed too many youngsters in her first two years in the breeding loft. And yet, the following 3 youngsters gave us a first clue of her enormous breeding potential in 2017 and 2018:
NL17-739 : 1st Duffel 12,904 p. 2nd Tilburg 5,418 p. 3rd Dudelange 1,713 p. 16th Bierges 4,318 p. 13th Boxtel 6,519 p. NL18-862 : 12th Quievrain 13,404 p. 6th Duffel 2,481 p. 19th Duffel 4,564 p. 83rd Boxtel 6,519 p. 169th Tilburg 5,418 p. NL18-863 : 43rd Quievrain 3,189 p. 65th Duffel 4,564 p.
And the achievements of Olympic Nicole's youngsters in 2019 clearly indicate that she is a super class breeding bird indeed. A good example would be the race from Quievrain on Saturday 7th of September 2019, where Kas and Karel claimed the following prizes against 10,492 pigeons:
Quievrain 315 km 10,492 p.: 1-2-3-26-36-38-111-115-154-158-163-165-169-172-174-etc. The 1st pigeon (NL19-1340885) is a daughter of Olympic Nicole The 2nd pigeon (NL19-1340751) is a grandchild of Olympic Nicole The 3rd pigeon (NL19-1340772) is a brother of Olympic Nicole
The first prize was won with a daughter of Olympic Nicole, which was paired to super class breeder BE13-6313918.
This 918 is a direct Stefaan Lambrechts pigeon, and he too has played an important role in the team's recent achievements. The 918 is also a full brother of the 188 (2nd Nat. Ace Pigeon), which claimed an 8th Prov. Orleans (4,262 p.), a 6th Angerville (2,580 p.), and a 9th Angerville (2,433 p.). Click here for the full pedigree. This 918 is without doubt a fantastic breeding bird: his descendants have won 11 first prizes, 16 second places and 17 third places. We take a look at some of the most prominent results:
1st Quievrain 10,492 p. 1st Quievrain 6,162 p. 1st Quievrain 1,068 p. 2nd Tilburg 2,656 p. 2nd Gorinchem 1,752 p. 2nd Boxtel 1,315 p. 3rd Boxtel 6,519 p. 3rd Quievrain 3,189 p. 3rd Bierges 1,511 p. 3rd Quievrain 1,007 p. etc.
NL17-1743820, 1st Ace Pigeon Sprint Province 9
The best racing bird this season is without doubt this 820. This hen became the 1st Ace Pigeon Sprint both in Province 9 (with 1100 members) and in CC4 Hart van Twente (with 180 members). She won as many as five first prizes in the union, and she claimed the following results in major competitions:
2nd Duffel 4,564 p. (and 2nd 12,904 p. after a teammate) 1st Bierges 3,340 p. (and 25th 15,234 p.) 1st Niergnies 715 p. (and 11th 4,066 p.) 8th Quievrain 3,189 p. (and 14th 13,404 p.) 2nd Quievrain 1,007 p. (and 4th 4,249 p.) 3rd Boxtel 4,129 p. (and 4th 15,643 p.) 3rd Boxtel 1,315 p. (and 4th 6,519 p.) 2nd Quievrain 325 p. (and 6th 2,912 p.) 5th Boxtel 1,961 p. (and 32nd 7,601 p.) 6th Tilburg 1,219 p. (and 17th 5,418 p.) 12th Bierges 1,524 p. 21st Boxtel 1,382 p. (and 76th 6,939 p.)
This 820 is a 100% Leo Heremans pigeon. Her sire is the 655, which is related to Kleine Blauwe (a 12th Nat. Ace Pigeon sprint KBDB 2011), as well as to Olympiade and Di Caprio. The dam of the 820 is Nieuwe Queen Rossi, and she stems from Nieuwe Gilbert (Leo Heremans) x top breeder BE14-323 (Stefaan Lambrechts). Click here for the full pedigree of NL17-174382.
We wrote in an earlier report about Kas and Karel that this father and son combination from The Netherlands was almost guaranteed to have a successful future with a racing/breeding hen of this caliber. And the descendants of Olympic Nicole seem to confirm that this team has a promising future indeed. We think there is still a lot more to come from this special bloodline.
