Hok Jos Vercammen (Vremde, BE) excels again in 2017

2017 was another fabulous season for the Vercammen family from Vremde; their pigeons did great not only in their home base but in many other lofts as well. This breed has been outstanding.

2017 - a fantastic season

It is often said that wine gets better with age, and it is something that seems to apply to the team of Jos & Lars Vercammen as well. They have won an impressive 31 national top 10 prizes since 2009 (Click here for an overview). 2017 was another outstanding season. However, just like a good wine does not get better simply by aging alone, the achievements of this team have not gone up just like that. There are many factors that influence the taste of wine, including the quality of the grapes, the hours of sunshine, etc. Likewise, there are many factors that decide if your pigeon breed will be successful or not: the quality of your breed, your skills as a fancier, your winning mentality, your determination, eye for detail, etc. Take it from us, the fanciers Jos and Lars Vercammen have mastered each of these skills, allowing them to excel time and time again.

They won the following championships in 2017:

1st Champion Middle Distance Yearlings Zuid Antwerps Verbond (ZAV)
1st Champion Long Distance Yearlings Long Distance 2001 St. Job (650-800km)
2nd General Champion Middle Distance Zuid Antwerps Verbond (ZAV)
1st Ace Pigeon Young Birds Middle Distance Zuid Antwerps Verbond (ZAV) with “Don Diego” (BE17-6025047)
1st + 2nd Ace Pigeon Long Distance Yearlings 2001 St. Job (650-800km)
1st Provincial Ace Pigeon Middle Distance Yearlings KBDB Antwerp with “Elektro Junior”(BE16-6032012)
2nd Provincial Ace Pigeon Middle Distance KBDB Antwerp with “Elektro Junior”(BE16-6032012)
5th National Ace Pigeon KBDB Halve Fond Jaarlingen met “Elektro Junior”(BE16-6032012)

Excellent references in 2017

If we were to make a list of references of all the fanciers that have achieved good results with their (direct) descendants of Jos Vercammen, both at home and abroad, we would not be able to fit it all into one single report. The following references are by far the most prestigious wins in other lofts with direct Vercammen pigeons, obtained in one of our PIPA auctions:

1. Jelle Roziers (Belgium)

The new star BE17-6037540 Gust won a 1st National Bourges of 38,456 young birds this year, and he was also the fastest of all the 59,253 competitors.

The dam of this pigeon is a direct Hok Jos Vercammen pigeon. She comes from BE10-6251534 Milos  x BE07-6221587 Miss Universe. This pigeon was obtained in a PIPA auction.

2. Marek Trzaska (Poland)

PL0264-13-400 Olympic Elektro was awarded as the world's best middle distance pigeon at the 2017 Olympiad in Brussels. This pigeon is probably the best middle distance racing bird ever to have lived in Poland.
He is the winner of:

1st Olympiad Pigeon Category B Middle Distance (300-600km) 2017 Brussel
(gold medal – first of all the nations)
1st National Ace Pigeon Poland Middle Distance 2016
2nd National Ace Pigeon Poland Middle Distance 2015

The dam of this pigeon is a direct Hok Jos Vercammen bird, coming from BE08-6174630 Elektro x BE06-6270116 Gloria. This pigeon was obtained in a PIPA auction as well. Olympic Elektro has been on board the breeding team in Vremde since this season.

3. Wang Jun (China)

Mr. Wang Jun and his racing bird CHN17-02-0002659 won the following ace pigeon titles in the famous KAi Er One Loft Race, against a field of over 10,000 pigeons:

1st ace pigeon over 3 races
3rd ace pigeon over 4 races
3rd ace pigeon over 2 races

There are four different races in this competition: 1x 300km, 1x 400km and 2x 500km. This pigeon finished in 13th and 16th place in the last two races over 500km. Well done!

The sire of this pigeon is a direct Hok Jos Vercammen, coming from Salgo (BE07-6221050) x La Perla(BE12-6196185).
This pigeon was obtained in a PIPA auction.

4. Marek Trzaska (Poland)

The new star in the loft of Marek Trzaska is the chequered hen PL0264-14-9155. She was 5th National Ace Pigeon in Poland in 2016, in the allround category. She will claim either a 1st or 2nd National Ace Pigeon title in the sprint category this season!

The sire of this pigeon is another direct Jos Vercammen bird. He comes from  Elektro (BE08-6174630) x Gloria (B06-6270116).
This is another pigeon that was obtained in a PIPA auction.

A unique collection of champions

If you have been a top level contender for years, being able to transfer your very best racing birds to the breeding loft, you will inevitably end up with a large collection of proven racing birds, many of which develop into renowned breeders as well.

New challenges in 2018

Since father and son Vercammen have won almost every race on the calender, we can imagine it being hard for them to set new goals every winter. And yet, the two fanciers are determined to at least match their level of performance of last season, and if possible to do even better. And they have at least one big goal for the new 2018 season: being able to perform at a high level from April all the way to September, and if possible to add a national first prize to their palmares. We will check again in 2018!
