A brief look back on 2015

Pigeon magazines across the world were talking of an unprecedented achievement from the Mol-based combination in the 2015 young birds' race from Châteauroux. Luc and Robby won a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th National of 10,442 youngsters, which is nothing short of amazing. We take a quick look at the full results:

The winner was Lucky Wonder 107, a grandchild of Lucky Luc. The second place went to a sister of Nationaal Wonder, 1st Best Young Bird of 2014 over 5 and 6 national races (PIPA ranking). The third prize was for Wondere Gilberte, from the line of a 1st National Zone Gueret. And the 4th national prize was won by Lucky Wonder 087, which is another grandchild of Lucky Luc.

Lucky Wonder 107 was the first pigeon to cross the line, winning a national Chateauroux before 3 loft mates;
she and Lucky Wonder 087 (4th National) are grandchildren of Lucky Luc, the team's invaluable stock breeder

The golden line of Lucky Luc of Vermeerbergen-Wilms

The combination has an invaluable breeding bloodline in their collection with Lucky Luc: both their 1st and 4th National Chateauroux 2015 are grandchildren of Lucky Luc. He is an inbred pigeon, being a double grandson of De Witpen, 3rd Nat. Ace Pigeon Sprint (11 first prizes), paired to the golden Heremans bloodlines of Flitske (the dam of Donker Aske) and Rosita (the dam of Rossi - Eijerkamp). His breeding results are quite impressive, with Lucky Luc being the grandfather of:

1st National Chateauroux of 10,442 young birds 2015 (see earlier)
4th National Chateauroux of 10,442 young birds 2015 (see earlier)
7th National Chateauroux of 14,762 young birds / 17th Nat. Ace Pigeon Longer Middle Distance YBs 2016

The invaluable bloodline of Nationaal Wonder

Nationaal Wonder won the PIPA rankings for best young bird over 5 and 6 national races for Luc and Robby Vermeerbergen-Wilms in 2014. The parents of Nationaal Wonder showed that this pigeon was not a lucky coincidence: a full sister of Nationaal Wonder won a 2nd National in the memorable 2015 race from Chateauroux of 10,442 pigeons.

Mister Rune Bourges

One of the strongest young birds of 2016 was without doubt BE16-6219017 Mister Rune Bourges. He wins a 14th National Bourges of 28,078 pigeons and 5 top 100 prizes in the sprint, the middle distance and the longer middle distance. Unfortunately he returned home from his final national race from Châteauroux with a gunshot wound.

Mister Rune Bourges is a half brother of the 1st National Zone Gueret and a 50% Gaston Van De Wouwer
(line of Kim, 1st National Gueret); click here for the pedigree of Mister Rune Bourges

A new challenge in 2018

Luc and Robby do not mind facing a new challenge every once in a while. They decided together with PIPA to auction their entire pigeon collection minus the youngsters of 2017. This means the team from Mol will have to rely entirely on the golden bloodlines of the young birds of 2017. Although we assume this new generation of pigeons has plenty of qualities as well. We are quite confident that the combination will be one of the main contenders in the national young birds' races this season!
