In ’08 and ’09 Raf was also very successful at provincial level  (see further), so that this interprovincial victory is just a continuation of the handsome pigeon game that is being demonstrated in the Leiegoeddreef 15 in Sint Eloois.Vijve.
Since he started again 4 seasons ago he can look back on a number of special results. A start whereby Raf set himself the aim of doing well with the youngsters in the national races ….You can deduce whether or not he was successful in his mission from this short overview ! The “Sylvère” : 10-3082610 : 1st interprovincial from Blois !
That young cock has his name to thank to the fact that on father’s side he comes out of the line of the well-known “Romulus” from Sylvère Toye.
Father: “Grandson Romulus” , bred by Philippe Dobbelaere from Olsene.
Mother: was obtained via Marc Bogaert and is a granddaughter of the “Schicht” from A & H Reynaert with the “Pélé-duivin” from Deschacht-Denduyver.

Definitely a chap that has one thing and another in his wings !!

A month before the start of the winter breed, a cure is given for tricho. Apart for the vaccination against smallpox and paramyxo, as little medicine as possible is used. Even in the event of a light attack of adeno, he tries to solve the problem in as naturally a way as possible. Young cocks are coupled with old hens and vice versa. They are darkened until the 10th of June…lighting is used from the 1st of July! Before the youngsters were coupled with the old cocks on the one hand, or the old hens on the other, they had a general check-up from veterinary surgeon Pascal Lanneau . Before each national race they are checked over by Dr P. Lanneau….if there are n problems, they aren’t given anything. That was at-a-glance  how  Raf prepares his youngsters for the nationals. But it is not only health that counts…..they also have to be capable !!
