"SPIERE" of Fontaine Gaston - Aarlen
Due to the wind coming from the west it was expected that the first pigeons of Argenton would be in this area. The victory for the young pigeons goes to Scherpenheuvel and the victory of the yearlings goes to Balen, but the victory of the old pigeons goes to the south of Belgium, to Gaston Fontaine from Aarlen. Gaston had one of the shortest distances, his distance was 470,729 km. His pigeon was clocked on 3.13pm and the speed of the pigeon was 1314.89 m/m. With this speed he was the 2nd fastest pigeon of all. Originally Gaston played under the name FONTAINE-HANZEN but since his wife became ‘the boss’ of the local pigeon federation “Le Rapide d’Arlon” it’s just ‘Gaston Fontaine’. Off course it is not only Gaston who deserves national victory but also his wife, who still helps a lot with the pigeons of Gaston, and not only at home, but also in the local pigeon federation she helps a lot.
They breed specially Roossen and Vanspitael pigeons, added with Moreay, Pierson and Carteus pigeons…
The loft has about 80 widowers and about 7 hens (2 old and 5 yearlings). There were about 100 youngsters ringed this year.
