DThe fastest of the convoy by the youngsters was the “Tim” 10-3029170 from Chris Debacker . Let us get straight to the point….this provincial victory fell to a colony which has scored formidably again this year…..This was also the case in previous years… and in 2010 it is once again with the same line…….In the sprint, middle distance and light long distance, Chris is one of the absolute eye catchers in the coast province.
With this victory he has, up until now, 13 victories in 2010.
We give you a few flashes so that you can form an idea of the manner in which this loft sometimes sweeps away all the competition

In the race concerned from Blois during the weekend of 17-18 July, he basketted 28 youngsters…..In the Fondclub in Rekkem in the south of West-Flanders his birds achieved the following result: 650 youngsters: 1-4-5-8-14-19-20-22-33-34-44-48…..(17/28)…..(Inter)provincial against 3683 youngsters translated into 1-20-22-28-43-61-62-77………The provincial victory is the icing on the cake in a superior result…..and the “youngest pigeon season” is not nearly at an end!!

Sister of one of the top pigeons by Chris, namely the “Lambik”. Is already mother of various excellent racing and breeding pigeons
The youngsters by Chris in a few sentences!!
-- By the weaning the young cocks and young hens are kept separate.
- This year the eggs from the breeding pigeons were put under feeding couples during the winter breed.
- 100 youngsters are ringed every year
- Due to the fact that the 1st + 2nd round of youngsters was so close to each other, the entire gang could train together.
- Youngsters are darkened from the 1st of March until the 1st of June…..no lighting is used.
- The youngsters start training in the Easter holidays… Chris also has his holidays then with enough free time, otherwise he wouldn’t have time due to his busy work commitments.
- After the training ( in the Easter holidays then!) the youngsters are left in peace in one basket…..they are trained enough and can so directly be entered for the races.
- All the young cocks are coupled with old hens…..Once they are paired (usually after 3 or 4 days) they are separated again.
- The youngsters never have eggs in the nest, and Chris thinks that by acting in this way the youngsters fall “still”….he therefore keeps the impulse ! “When they are not brooding then the condition that we need at the start of the big holidays ( July-august) is right on time…”
- In contrast to the old birds, the hens are shown before basketting the youngsters, whereby the hens are put “half box”. Once all the hens are in the nest boxes the first cocks are basketted ( those which were given their hen first).
- Young hens are coupled with old cocks and the same system is used as by the young cocks. These hens are used for the national races.
- New in 2010 ! “Seeing that my preference nevertheless is for the provincial races, I see that we will have to concentrate more and more on the national game. That’s why, starting this year, I also use one of the three lofts of young cocks for the national game.”: says the big champion from Beveren-Leie.
TThat was the testimony of Chris Debacker, who, due to his responsibilities at his job in teaching, can rely on the indispensible help of Freddy Vandeplassche, because without his help he wouldn’t be able to race the pigeons as often….Our warmest congratulations to them both on the provincial victory and the up until now marvellous season 2010
