In record time Gerard and Bas Verkerk returned to the top after their removal; their golden breeding colony with all the top racers from the past in it, stays the formidable base. Especially for PIPA they bred 16 well selected youngsters; from wonder hen ‘Olympic Solange’ (6x 1st Nat. acebird), from ‘Little Tiger’ (father Olympiad ace ‘Sponge Bob’), from super pair ‘Sven’ x ‘Magic Amoré’, from ‘Houdini’ (3rd Nat. acebird long distance), from ‘Blue Champ’ (2x 1st Nat. acebird) and from toppers like ‘Federer’, ‘Sieka’, ‘Liz’, ‘Ronunbel’, ‘Dragon’, ‘Street Fighter’, ‘Cocoon’, ‘Hummer’, ‘One Eye Bandit’, ‘Contador’, ‘Party Animal’, etc.

Today was the grand finale of the Verreckt-Ariën auction, which proved to be the internet auction with the second highest proceedings ever. The auction which brought in most was that of H.P. & P. Brockamp, passing the 1 million barrier.

Voici une peinture de ‘Basje’ datant d'il y a 25 ans (réalisé par sa soeur). On le voit en train de regarder par la fenêtre un pigeon rentrant d'un concours. C'est probablement à cette période là qu'il décida de devenir colombophile. Et pas n'importe quel colombophile, puisqu'il est devenu un vrai champion.
