Si on comparait les résultats actuels de certains amateurs avec ceux qu’ils ont remporté il y a 30ans, la plupart d’entre eux auront sans doute connu une baisse de régime à un moment ou un autre. Seulement quelques amateurs sont capables de résister aux ravages du temps. Piet van de Merwe, de Dordrecht, fait partie de ce genre d’amateur.

After the season, only for few fanciers the balance always goes the right way … a man who’s always on the good side of the score, is Piet vd Merwe from Dordrecht near Rotterdam. In 2010 he again grabbed 6 victories, with 2 NPO sieges amongst them … in 1 weekend!! Unbelievable and it made the season a success in a matter of a few hours. ‘Master Piet’ takes us back to present the pigeon’s backgrounds behind the success.

Mijn gastheer van vandaag is één van de beste liefhebbers in Nederland. Hij woont in Dordrecht, enkele kilometers van Rotterdam. Piet is een crack op halve fond van 100-600 km en dit zowel met de oude duiven als met de jongen.

Piet (61) has taken early retirement and is a member of the Dordtse Concours en Verzendingsbond (DCVB). This club has about 70 members, but in 1979 when Piet was first champion in this club, the DCVB had 250 racing members.
