Hermann Schlief and Martin Stiens from Oelde in Germany are no newcomers to the sport. They had been keeping pigeons at a very early age but they then spent several years without a pigeon collection. Hermann Schlief (76) is the uncle of Martin Stiens, which at the age of 49 can be considered a relatively young fancier. The two agreed to make a comeback in 2005/2006.
For the first time in history, fanciers from the European mainland will be able to participate in the one loft race of the (UK) Royal Pigeon Racing Association. The organisation has 100 spaces available. Fanciers from the European mainland can enter up to and including 7 December. After that date, the remaining spaces will be offered to UK entrants on the reserve list.

Jef was born on Monday morning the 23rd of November at 7:16am, 13 days after his due date, weighing in at 3.860 kg and 52.5 cm tall.
