The racing season has come to an end a while ago, and we think this is the time to take a look back at a particularly successful season of Saban Saatdüzen, arguably one of the most well known fanciers in the province of Limburg (Belgium).
Several championship titles have been awarded recently, and one of the names that appear in many championship results is that of Erik Limbourg. The cherry on the cake this season was the title of General National Championship KBDB. He managed to win no less than five prizes in the KBDB championships!
Manchester is known world-wide as the centre of football. However, it is not only famous for success in this branch of sport. The Crehan & O'Connor partnership from Salford (Greater Manchester) have been topping the prize lists in UK middle distance racing for quite some time now. Believing it was time to make a fresh start, the partnership decided to sell all its old birds from 3 to 16 November 2014.
Descendants of the Pieter Veenstra pigeon breed have once again brought in great results for other fanciers. Some have won national first prizes, while others are in the running for a title of best long distance pigeon, best middle distance pigeon and best allround pigeon in The Netherlands.
Another season of pigeon racing has gone by, and it turned out quite a difficult year with a relatively high number of losses. Many races were influenced by adverse weather conditions including heat waves, heavy rain, and sometimes heavy thunderstorms. We think few people were satisfied with the weather last summer.
On Monday the 27th of October 2014, 4 new auctions started. On Tuesday the 28th of October 2014, the auction of Sorin Florea will start as well. On Saturday the 8th of November, the auctions of Premier Stud (VD Wouwer Collection) and Sorin Florea will end. The next day, on Sunday the 9th of November, the auction of Francis & Bart Verdeyen, Harry van Andel and Eric Berckmoes will end.
A Meirlaen pigeon knows what it takes to excel, to dominate and to win, and they proved this once again in 2014, for instance by taking a double national win from Pau, and a provincial victory form Agen. In addition, no less than three Meirlaen pigeons have won a prize in the national ace pigeon championships KBDB, besides the prize mentioned in the title. Well done!
The golden bloodline of Albert Marcelis has really excelled in the loft of Eric Berckmoes, the pupil that continued the life's work of his master with great dedication. Eric has decided to auction his best old birds, which means a collection of high quality pigeons is now available for sale.
On 23 October, pigeon fanciers in South Africa were startled by a new legislation published in the Government Gazette prohibiting the breeding, trading and racing of pigeons in South Africa. After a lot of lobbying behind the screens, the government decided to exempt pigeon racing from this prohibition.

The available national, zonal and provincial results of Bourges I, Châteauroux I, Poitiers, Montluçon, Guéret I, Argenton I, La Souterraine I, Bourges II, Châteauroux II, Argenton II, Tours, La Souterraine II and Guéret II were taken into account for this ranking.
There is no doubt that Gaston Van de Wouwer has had one of his most successful seasons ever. His impressive palmares for 2014 includes a 1st prov. Ace Pigeon long distance KBDB, a 1st semi nat. Vierzon, a 1st prov. Argenton, a 4th prov. Champion long distance and a 5th nat. champion young birds KBDB.
The Algarve, a region along the entire southern coastline of Portugal, hosted the final race of one of Europe’s most important one loft races on Saturday 27 September. This year’s race proved a record breaking edition.
