On Friday 24 May we will all pay our last respects to our good friend and great fancier Andre Verbesselt. The funeral is to take place in the Sint Martinus church in Ramsdonk.

In the last few weeks it became clear that the Leo Heremans auction was about to be something special. The auction was the talk of the town among many pigeon fanciers but no one would have guessed that the auction raised 4.346,500 euro (that is 174 million Belgian Francs!). As from the 28th of May 2013, UK fanciers can put their performances in the international spotlight in our fresh weekly column "Top Performances UK".

The 2013 season has only just begun and the world champion from As (Limburg) has put his cards on the table. Thoné has won three out of four provincial races in Limburg, after last week's provincial win from Gien (yearlings). Last weekend he achieved a double victory from Vierzon with a provincial win in the old birds' and the yearlings' category!

The first National Flying Club race of the 2013 season was held from Carentan on Saturday 18th May. A total of 965 members sent 8,319 birds which were liberated at 7.45am into clear skies. The provisional result is as follows.

The Van Eynde-Goovaerts partnership has had a great weekend. They won an interprovincial first prize from Vierzon against 2,900 yearlings, as well as a double provincial victory in the province of Antwerp against 1,827 old birds and 1,253 yearlings respectively. They have achieved a 100% prize percentage!

On 22 May two new auctions started which will both end on the 2nd of June. We would like to present them to you.

The traditional opener of the Belgian national racing season from Bourges takes place on Saturday 25 May. As always, we will do everything to inform you and to keep you up to date about the Belgian national races.

A superb victory, the second of the season, won by what we can already call a champion pigeon! Indeed, Benny from Olivier Carlier won its third victory of its young career in the interprovincial race from Pithiviers!
