Friday 7th of August, I visited Romania. The reason for this trip was to make a visit to our best Romanian customer Dr. Sorin Paul Stanescu, his loft manager Cosmin Dobre and their good friend Dr. Geronimo Branescu ( this visit was on Sunday 9th of August ). We also visited Friday Simion Emil and on Saturday we attended the final of the Balcanic Fair Play One Loft Race. When I say "we" in the report, i mean me and my right hand in Romania Dr. Dinu Mihai.

2009 was a very succesful year in his pigeon career, he was one of the strongest races in the Bucharest area with long serieus of top prizes. He likes most of all the extreme long distance, but in Romania, the system is more like in Germany, where they do "programme racing". Every week, they built up from a short distance till a longer distance.

The old pigeon season in Romania starts in the last week of april and ends the end of July. The young pigeon season starts 23rd of August.
In 2006 Simion was best fancier in Romania on the middle distance young birds.
in 2007 he won 1st nat ace pigeon short distance over 2 years in Romania
In 2008 2nd and 3rd ace pigeon young pigeons short + middle distance

Simion Emil has a very famous Italian Restaurant in Bucharest, which is known by most of the people living in Bucharest. It is an exclusive restaurant, with high quality original italian dishes. Most of the important Romanian people, like ministers, famous football players all came there. There are signed football shirts on the wall from Baggio, Chivu, Popescu, ... Also the legendary Hagi already came to have dinner in the restaurant. The name of the restaurant is "Capricciosa".

On the second day we went to visit the final race of the Balkanic One Loft Race, organised by the Stefanescu Family (Liviu & Bibi). It is a great event, organised already for the 10th time.

Either if they had a pigeon in the final, either not, everybody was excited.

It rained the days before the competition,but in the final day it was very nice, you can see it by looking at the sky!

A very good atmosphere!

Everything was perfectly organised, from the preparing of the pigeons till the preparing of the good food, in the presence of good and cold romanian beer.

Mr.Stoicescu ...he just won 10.000 euro. Mr.Stoicescu also won the race in 2002!

Nikolaas, Chirica Cornel, winner of the 11 place ( after the 6 first pigeons 5 came in together in one time, but his hen entered as last), a hen with 90 % Eric Limbourg blood. The mother is a granddaughter of Joost and Chenoa and it was bought in January 2009 in the public auction, organised by Dr.Dinu Mihai and PIPA in Bucharest. In the left Dr.Dinu Mihai (Pipa Romania).

Sunday, 9th of August, we visited our most important customer in Romania Dr. Sorin Paul Stanescu. This was the main purpose of our visit to Romania. They race under the name Stanescu-Dobre.

If in the last years we could talk about big champions and big pigeon investors in Romania like Bebe Chicheanu and Marcel Nicolaescu, today we have only one name high above in the spotlights : Dr.Sorin Paul Stanescu and his loft manager Cosmin Dobre. Cosmin Dobre, the loft manager, Dr.Dinu Mihai and Dr.Sorin Paul Stanescu are talking about life, bussinesand about the fact that they (Stanescu-Dobre),will only colaborate with PIPA in the future.
They made some fantastic aquisitions in the last years, from Brian Long, Frans Sablon, and many other auctions...
It's for the first time in the history of Romania that an international winner is bought by a romanian pigeon fancier : POZZATO,1st International Bordeaux from Wijnands and son.

Dr.Sorin Paul Stanescu studied to be a dentist, but does not practice it. In 2002 he started with pigeons because he loves animals, also race horses, dogs, ...
Pigeons give him the possibility to relax in life...When he is with his pigeons, he does not think about anything else but pigeons. He has 3 lofts spread over the country, 1 loft in Bucharest ( the one we visit today ), one in Prochova, and one in Fetest. Dr. Cosmin Dobre ( also a veterinary ) holding "Olympic King Of Sprint", a pigeon he bought from Erik Limbourg, a pigeon who is writing history in the loft of Eric through his offsprings .
This Olympic King of Sprint will be auctioned by Dr. Stanescu on PiPa. Nikolaas is holding a very beautiful hen bought in the total auction of Ludo Claessens, an inbred product, reproduced from "Jonge SuperCrack" and his own mother! ( on this moment the mating hen of Olympic King of Sprint ).

After the visit we were the guests of Dr.Sorin Paul Stanescu,in one of the best restaurants in Bucharest. In the picture Nikolaas and the perfect team Dr.Sorin Paul Stanescu and Cosmin Dobre.
During the lunch also one of the best friends of Dr. Sorin was present : Geronimo Branescu. Geronimo is also a very good friend with Nikolaas of PiPa.
