In the now annual tradition PIPA will present a selected group of youngsters from Gerard Koopman in the early Spring. A round of 42 youngsters directly from all the best breeders from Gerard Koopman … an auction which many longingly look forward to, because they know that Gerard only selects the very best for PIPA. The global influence of the Koopman-pigoens is enormous; the class by the source is still unmatched. Gold from Ermerveen has been mined here!
In the Super Bowl the first arrivals were anxiously awaited. The distance this year 578 km. As always the end race was especially selective. After just under 9 hours racing the first pigeons arrived with 1070 mtr/min. Before dusk made her appearance just over 10% of the pigeons basketted were back home.
Once again the final race was very sharp. Henk de Weerd (Belgica de Weerd) also noticed this and the following day the pigeons for sale (the first 100) with their descendants were studied with a more than average interest. This elicited Henk to say: “It’s starting to look more and more like the Koopman-show”.
The 2nd prize winner (crossing Koopman-Prange) for example, made an impression by the homecoming by not displaying any signs of tiredeness. He was sold to the lofts of Henk de Weerd and Mark Kitchenbrand for no less than 45.000 US $. They also bought the winning hen and with this have a new top couple in the lofts of the new partnership.
Team-Bakker (Netherlands) had in their “Lord Ballina” one of the best pigeons in this 16th edition and in the final race it was “Dance in Time” which was flagged 21st. Both pigeons are once again bred out direct Koopman-pigeons.
The winners from last year, the Kitchenbrand family, were now strongly represented with half Koopman (via Henri van Venrooij) in 30th place.
Racing Team-Koopman also proved that these conditions still suit the “Koopman-pigeon” perfectly. No less than 3 pigeons shone by the first 29 !
Once again proof that the source in Ermerveen is still alive and kicking!
