National from Montauban … a daughter and a cousin of their stock father ‘Super Walter’ achieved respectively 1. prov. - 1. zonal - 8. Nat. Argenton and 1.prov. - 1. semi-National Vierzon …then superlatives are wasteful and only great admiration is fitting …

Where from National Montauban the giant ‘Iron Man’ found the spotlights targeted on his impressive torso, now the classy hen BELG07-5056652 ‘Joske’ who earns all the respect for a sensational crowning of a beautiful career. “The best hen of my career,” says Stefan … a career which, with 9 years in the pigeon sport and already 2 National, 3 semi-National, 3 zonal and 10 provincial victories, represents an enormous average. “But 2010 beats everything, with three provincial, two zonal and one semi-National victory … Plus … our top breeder ‘Super Walter’ is belonging more and more to the enormous rarity in his sort!”

Argenton 2006 against 4.019 pigeons) and ‘Linda’ (1. Nat. La Souterraine 2007 against 4.331 pigeons) as direct daughters … ‘Joske’ is the next top pigeon in line … and according to Stefan probably his best ever. Because prior to her super stunt from Argenton with the 1. prov. Argenton 891 old birds, 1. Nat. zone C (circa 1.700 pigeons) & 8. Nat. 5.763 pigeons, she was actually untameable in the middle distance… with 7x 1. prize, wherefrom Stefan can recite the 1. Momignies (331 pigeons), 1. Salbris (198 pigeons), 1. Salbris (202 pigeons) and 1. Soissons (297 pigeons) … With this she has also won 5x top 100 National, wherefrom in 2010 the 96. Nat. Bourges against 10.906 pigeons … and in previous years a.o. 41. Nat. La Souterraine 4.660 pigeons and 69. Nat. Bourges 5.178 pigeons … in 2009 she was first Ace pigeon in the club … whilst her brother wins 1. yearling in the club with 4x top 20 provincial … and of the 27 club baskettings, ‘Joske’ won 27 prizes … that is not just ordinary class, that is class from another planet!

Recovered from the shock … Stefan wants to present his BELG08-5023498 … as young talent in 2008 good for 1. Soissons against 384 pigeons and a year later as a yearling en top of the podium with 1. Nanteuil against 261 pigeons … in the Nationals this cock achieved six prizes per ten … and in the month July in 2010 he had a phenomenal period … after having won 55. prov. Moulins against 661 pigeons in the early season, his wonder month began on the 11th of July with the 17. prov. Orleans against 2.269 pigeons … on the 17th of July a unique highlight; 1. prov. Vierzon against 754 pigeons, 1. semi-Nat. and fastest of 9.300 pigeons … to close the month on the 24th of July with the 15. prov. Bourges against 1.551 pigeons, also 27. zone against 4.908 pigeons and 98. Nat. 10.906 pigeons. Top class, bred from … a full sister – even nest sister – of aforementioned ‘Super Walter’. This hen has already won 1. Melun 1.062 pigeons and 1. Soissons 984 pigeons … Once again then wonder ‘Super Walter’ blood lines that crow victory. Oh yes, as father of ‘Joske’, ‘Super Walter’ naturally had a partner who played a part in the passage of the genes … she is 100% Jos & Jules Engels, out the line of ‘Den 178’ and ‘Den Dikken’… Coupled with the wonder cock ‘Super 241’ who had 6x 1. prize; directly from Vancamp-Govaert and bought when the duo ended their hobby, the sister of ‘Super Walter’ produced the 498/08 … and the Steenbergens from Herk have done very well by this line…they determine the stock building of the breeding loft for 70 to 80% …

The wonder season 2010 brings Albert and Stefan success after success … with such a small amount of pigeons it is actually nothing less than phenomenal. Only a few pigeons in the basket; that is the motto in Limburg. “My job doesn’t allow me a lot of pigeons, which take up a lot of time,” explains Stefan. “But only having a few pigeons guarantees that you only keep the best. A razor sharp selection then, not performing well for two weeks is enough for them to be got rid of!” Stefan should say ‘an unfortunate surprise’ gave him extra possibilities to motivate the pigeons in the baskets in July and August. “I managed to postpone an operation on my knee so that I would be off work sick for two months in the middle of summer … so also more time for my pigeons … and that could be seen; I am very proud of such a top season.”

And they have a right to be proud …basketting so few pigeons and still managing to achieve 19 victories in 2010 … that is class. Top results built on a strong foundation with very high ‘Super Walter’ quality. “This winter the last will go exclusively via PiPa; then everything from him will be used to breed. Every year I buy two special hens to couple him with, if the youngsters aren’t good enough, then the hen has to go… that’s how high a guarantee he gives of good youngsters.” It seems therefore to be purely a matter of waiting for more good news from the Runnenweg … for now, put your hands together for the duo Steenbergen!
