Patrick Delrue-Vanbruaene, Lauwe ensured as ‘Gouden Vleugel winner’ for a ‘revival’ of the very strong Vanbruaene pigeon! - UPDATE

namely the late Aloïs Stichelbaut and the late Andre Vanbruaene… the ‘matador’ of Lauwe, as he was sometimes called… a name that he undoubtedly had to thank on his wonder pigeon the ‘Stier’… not only the ‘super crack’ of the first hour, but likewise a ‘stock bear’ out thousands! The late Andre built up a ‘pigeon emporium’ on this pigeon… seasoned with, amongst other things, 2 international victories in the ‘international top classic’ by far… from Barcelona’! Innumerable fellow sportsmen followed in his footsteps on the way to international ‘grand distance successes’ with descendants of those Vanbruaene pigeons… directly out that ‘very strong’ and ‘indestructible’ Vanbruaene stock! Not in the least his grandsons, active in the pigeon sport under the name Van Steenhuyze-Vanbruaene and Delrue-Vanbruaene…

Patrick, born on the 27th of October 1959 and Grandpa Andre Vanbruaene the 4th of April 1910

Grandson Patrick Delrue-Vanbruaene was also allowed to profit from the life’s work of grandfather Andre. It was grandfather Andre who inaugurated Patrick into the pigeon sport, and taught him the first rituals of the craft. As a ‘youngster’ Patrick cou7ld always be found in the lofts of ‘peter Andre’… before he left for school in the morning, and as soon as he returned home from school, he was always in the lofts of grandfather! The first pigeon he owned was a hen from grandpa with a ‘broken wing’ which he took back to his own house (on the other side of the street)… the first step to independent pigeon racing had been set! Patrick was always at the front of the queue, not only to closely follow the colony of grandfather Andre Vanbruaene… but also to later supply his own loft with the very best of what there was in the lofts of grandfather.  When grandfather Andre clocked no less than 6 top pigeons from the six basketted from the scorching Barcelona in 1984, with ‘international victory’ as icing on the cake… Patrick also scored a very fine 4/4… in the same ‘leaden’ Barcelona in one of his first participations! He immediately got the ‘taste’ for it! Years later Patrick also nearly won a 1° National Barcelona in 2006… yet stranded in 2° place ‘national’ with his very strong hen ‘Luna’… a stunt which he repeated in 2010 by not only winning 2° National Barcelona… but on top of that also the ‘Gouden Vleugel’! It's already worth the effort to browse through the origin of these top pigeons. We arrive unarguably at the stock father of the colony of Patrick Delrue-Vanbruaene:

He is a son of the ‘Stouten’ B77-3470749, which was self an inbred product to the immortal stock bear André Vanbruaene the ‘Jonge Stier’ (with 1° Nat Libourne and 1° Intnat Pau in 1951 to his name)… who comes self out the ‘Bijter’ (1° prize Bordeaux) x ‘Jonge Sproete’ (daughter from an inbred coupling with the most famous son of the ‘Barcelona I’, namely the ‘Electriek 953/67’ x his own mother ‘Sproete 270/66’, daughter of the 1° Intnat Barcelona 1964’ Deraedt-Van Grembergen). Mother is ‘Cecile’ B77-3058624 who in turn is then a daughter of the ‘Molenaar 727/68’ (son 1° Nat Cahors) x ‘Sproete 270/66’ (cited earlier)… with which this ‘Cecile’ is a full sister of the famous top breeding hen ‘Kardoese 094/76’… you know, the mother of ‘Barcelona II’, winner 1° Intnat Barcelona 1984. With this the stock breeder ‘Geschelpten 362/82’ is then inbred to the ‘Sproete’ (3 x in the pedigree), the ‘Barcelona I’ (2 x in the pedigree), the ‘1° Nat Barcelona Deraedt-Van Grembergen’… as well as the ‘Jonge Stier 559/47’, who occurs in the pedigree several times.

So as you can see, the colony of Patrick Delrue-Vanbruaene is based on a real inbred stock of super pigeons for the ‘extreme long distance’… arising out the time-honoured very strong  Vanbruaene stock from grandfather Andre Vanbruaene… the very first ‘teacher’ that  Patrick had, from whom he has clearly learnt all the breeding principles… taken them over… and successfully managed to bring into ‘practise’ in his own loft! His total breeding capacity… scarcely 6 breeding pigeon couples… but then pigeons that are more than worthy of the name… only pigeons which seem to be capable of producing ‘top pigeons’ themselves, are given the name ‘ breeder’ there in Lauwe… the rest are only used to raise youngsters from other couples! In addition Patrick also swears by his time-honoured Vanbruaene stock… which can till be found 100% pure and unadulterated! He is not one to just throw  ‘strange blood’ at it… that’s how scared he is of throwing away his ‘pigeon opulence’! The Vanbruaene pigeons are made for the ‘tough work’, for the ‘hard labour’… and sometimes dare to come short in ‘light racing weather’… with ‘rear wind’… but Patrick accepts that with a smile. Patrick likes to compare it to cycling… they can all ride ‘downhill’… but ‘uphill’, they fall in heaps… it is no different in the pigeon sport! The real races… are always those raced with a velocity between 1.000 and 1.200 metres/min… the races where the real top pigeons can  pull away from the ‘group’… and the selection by the ‘Vanbruaenes’ has always been based on this! |The real racing career starts at 2 years old… everything previous was preparation for…! They are pigeons that can compete with the best up t an age of 6 or 7 years… and can easily race 3 marathon races on a yearly basis with success! Admit it, you rarely come across such pigeons in the annals of our modern pigeon sport!

Conclusion
Patrick Delrue-Vanbruaene possesses a pigeon stock based on strong foundations… on that extremely strong and imperishable Vanbruaene pedigree… a pigeon stock which has successfully endured all the evolutions in the pigeon sport, and stands for more than half a century Barcelona success… not only by the Vanbruaene family self, but  equally in numerous other lofts worldwide! Vanbruaene pigeons… that is pure ‘gold’ for the ‘extreme long distance’… pigeons for which the racing conditions can’t be ‘tough’ or ‘hard’ enough! Real ‘pedestrians’ so as the late Piet De Weerd sometimes called them… pigeons where the ‘creator’ of the ‘Jan Aarden stock’ and the old  Steenbergs pedigree was so ‘crazy’ about… and which he was always looking for… because according to Piet De Weerd these are the ‘ideal pigeons’ to build a ‘stock’ on! Because what the Aarden pigeons meant to the development of the modern ‘extreme middle distance pigeon’ in the Netherlands… is what the Vanbruaene pigeons have meant for the ‘extreme long distance’ in Belgium! They have made the name ‘Vanbruaene’ immortal!
