The extraordinary season of Etienne Devos (Deerlijk, BE): 1st Nat. Ace Pigeon Long Distance KBDB and 2nd General National Champion KBDB

2012 was obviously a great season for the 76 year old champion from Deerlijk. He also won several important titles, for instance:

Etienne Devos had a few very successful weekends this season with several top prizes and a lot of prize money. He was not only successful in the long distance club in Rekkem against some very strong West Flemish opponents; he won provincial and national prizes as well. It was a great season with regional and (inter)national top prizes. Etienne was awarded the title we mentioned earlier but that was not his only title this season: he won other important titles as well (see below).

Etienne has two champions that deserve special attention; they are the true stars in the racing team at Deerlijk in 2012. They have both won national top prizes and they helped to maintain the standards of the Devos pigeon family.

The Cavendish (11-3068321)

The Cavendish (11-3068321) turned into a true champion in 2012 as winner of the following prizes:

We can see that Cavendish won two top prizes from Chateauroux.  That was not his only feat this season: on 30 June we had the national from Argenton, where he performed very well as a yearling as well. This is what a journalist wrote about Cavendish: We have only just finished our article about the provincial victory by Etienne from Pau and it was time to report again about the successful loft in Deerlijk. This time it was the unbeatable Cavendish, 11-3068321 that won his third top prize in 2012. This champion managed to cover 491,790 km from Argenton with a velocity of 1616.84 m/min, which made him the best pigeon in the province West Flanders. Of course, this was not his first victory at provincial or national level this season.

The Witpen Rivaldo (07-3008642): 1st National Ace Pigeon Grand Distance KBDB

This top class marathon racing pigeon is a great-grandson of Kleine Didi 92-3000607 (1st nat. Dax, 2nd nat. Perpignan, 1st nat. Ace Pigeon Long Distance, etc.) on his father’s side. On his mother’s side he is a great-grandson of the renowned Prins 85-3397364 of Etienne; a pure Poitiers star. He also carries the bloodline of Jonge Artiest Houben. Let's have a look at the parents and the grandparents of this  Witpen Rivaldo.

We would like to remind you that Etienne has three brothers of Witpen Rivaldo in his racing team as well: Witslag Rivaldo (who has as great a list of achievements at the long distance as well), Stijn (winner of an 8th nat. They clearly belong to a bloodline (of ace pigeons) with outstanding breeding qualities: think for instance of Kleine Didi, the Zidane, the Rivaldo, etc. These are all great champions in the pigeon family of Devos.
