This partnership was started about five years ago, when one of Tom Van Gaver’s young birds wanted to stay in the lofts of Johan De Vroe, who agreed to keep the pigeon. This young bird proved very successful that season. This Van Gaver hen was then paired to De Kleine Schonen, one of Johan’s best yearlings at the time. They bred the youngster Vroeke, which moved to the loft of his neighbour Guy Everaert, winning a first national from Bourges in 2008. A full sister of this Vroeke, De Prinses, won an eleventh national in that same race from Bourges. It was then that the three fanciers decided to start working together. Johan De Vroe was to compete in the young bird races only, Tom Van Gaver was responsible for the yearlings and old birds and Rudi Vandeputte raced the old and yearling hens. It proved a highly successful partnership with a really strong pigeon breed!
The old and yearling cocks, which are raced under the name of Van Gaver-De Vroe, have managed to win the following prizes:

An additional 68 top 50 prizes were won in Zone A in that same period of time. 28 pigeons of De Vroe-Van Gaver-Vandeputte finished in the top 150 at national level, including a well deserved first national from Bourges young birds in 2013.
