Piet de Weerd deceased
On Saturday the 4th of July 2009 Piet de Weerd passed away. During his lifetime Piet de Weerd was called a legend. This name was due to the impressive way in which he moved in the pigeon sport.
He was a great inspector and expert on pigeons and his advice has contributed to an effective improvement in the quality of the sport pigeon worldwide. His insights are communicated by a large number of publications available within the pigeon sport and these have contributed in bringing the pigeon sport to a higher level.
His services for the pigeon sport was the reason that the NPO made Piet de Weerd an honorary member whereby he was awarded the golden decoration.
We wish his family strength in these difficult times.

Se debe de reconocer que fue un Grande de la colombofilia mundial, extraordinario escritor, gran conocedor de lineas y super dotado clasificador de paloma a la mano.
En mexico muy querido, admirado y dejando una gran escuela que es practicada aun en estos dias por Colombofilos veteranos y tambien por muchos jovenes.
Mexico muy agradecido por la gran calidad de palomas que trajo hace ya unos
treinta y tantos años, sangre que aun gana competencias en estos dias.
PIET DE WEERD. Mexico nunca te olvidara, siempre te recordara y eternamente agradecido por todo tu aporte a la colombofilia mundial, Yo en lo particular siempre disfrutando aun hoy dia de tus escritos que me hacia viajar con la imaginacion atraves del tiempo y el espacio, colocandome en Belgica y Holanda en tiempos de la segunda guerra mundial y aun asi visitando tu, visitando palomares y comentandolo de una manera muy amena e inteligente.
Se podria hacer una pelicula de tu vida y estoy seguro seria un gran exito aun para los neofitos.
