Presentation, overview of the points discussed:

1. Old birds:

a) Before breeding

- Check-up 5 weeks before coupling (tricho, coccidiosis, worms, bacterio).

-Pay attention that they are not overweight !

-Preventive treatment for paratyphoid (by positive check-up, check again after treatment and vaccination).

b) Before the racing season

-Check-up before the season (tricho, coccidiosis, worms, fungi, labo…).

-Vaccination pmv + pox and possibly paratyphoid.

-The pigeons must be healthy (watch out for Chlamydia and Fungi) for the first races (possibly lengthy treatment).

c) Racing season

-Make plans together with the vet (tricho, fungi, airways…).

-Problems with Chlamydia and Fungi have seriously occurred over the last few years.

-Condition and recuperation preparations (according to the distances and toughness of the races). Knowing what you want to race (sprint…long distance) and keeping to that system.

d) Moulting period

- After the racing season, a tricho-cure and then…nothing more until before breeding (paratyphoid treatment).

- Bath (all year round, once a week) !

- By-products based on amino acids (methionine, choline…).

2. Youngsters :

e) After weaning

-Vaccination see below

-Tricho cure for 5-6 days about 2 weeks after weaning.

-Prevention of sickness for the young (DostoRopa liquid + RopAdeno in the drinking water).

f) Before the racing season

- Before the first training race : treatment against Ornithosis for 12 days.

- Tricho treatment about 15 days before the first training race.

g) During the racing season

-Use the same plan as for the old birds.

-If there have been many problems with adeno over the last few years. Preventive treatment by the homecoming.

h) vaccinations

-By the weaning : paramyxo

-Smallpox : from 6 weeks

-Paratyphoid : about 3 months old.

Further explanation 

1. Print Manager, including the PC program which first and foremost ensures that various list scan be printed via the PC, data can be stored on the PC and even exported to Excel. The 2nd part of this program is the Monitor function. This projects live all the data on the display of the clock to the laptop, PC or netbook connected. This connection takes place via USB. The information is then very clear and contained and displays the connection with the clock, the number of antennas connected, the number of active races and the number of pigeons clocked. You also receive detailed info over the active races whereby you can enter the distance and time of liberation to calculate the speed. You can let the program send e-mails to several addresses per homecoming pigeon and you select from which race(s) yourself, but you need internet connection.

2. The Monitor can also send the registrations through to the new reporting server briconweb.com. Protected by a log in and password, the program itself can make contact with the server (if there is an internet connection) and can send the details of the pigeons from the races. On briconweb you can see if 1 rubber per category, all rubbers, wing stamp or nothing at all has to be filled in. The fancier is asked on the PC if he will fill in the rubber for the pigeon, and then the details are sent off directly. After 3 sec. you are shown your position, calculated through the reports and speed and which is updated every minute or per pigeon reported clocked.

3. BRICONWEB: In order to offer a complete system bricon has also built a complete reporting server which is available free to clubs. The club only needs a PC with internet. The reporting can take place in 3 ways:

A. Automatically as described above with the help of the X-treme clock.

B. Fancier has internet and logs in to briconweb via his own log-in where he can find the race liberated and his list of pigeon basketted. He only has to click on the right pigeon and fill in the time and possibly the rubber or wing stamp.

C. The third possibility is the traditional telephone. The fancier reports via the telephone and the relevant person in the club fills this in on briconweb.

In the club module all the pigeons appear which have been reported via all 3 methods so that the club always has a complete and clear list which can be printed out.

Because the  webserver is coordinated there is also a live and correct list calculated from all the available reports at provincial and national level.

Over the last few weeks there have been 2 remarks from the KBDB and organisers concerning briconweb:

1. To make the club module as client friendly as possible we also put the rubbers basketted into the database. These are protected and no-one can alter them, but there was some confusion about this. We took the decision to remove them from the database until the KBDB and organisers come to a decision about this. The search machine for the club can be used for name, ring number (last 4 numbers) or rubber, whereby this latter is no longer possible.

2. The KBDB was also worried that correct information is available whereby it could be misused. So at the beginning of the season that the live information is only available at club level (and so only for it’s members) and with a delay the coordinated results will also be available to everyone.

Saturday the 18th of February 2012 first Fugare day . 

Whoever thought that the ‘pigeon fancier’ was a dying breed or threatened species… will definitely think different after the 2nd edition of the Fugare exhibition. The Xpo-halls in Kortrijk were packed once again… for these ‘heydays’ for our Belgium pigeon sport!

Our pigeon sport is still alive… that is the reassuring conclusion that we were able to make after the first day of the Fugare exhibition in Kortrijk. Virtually every firm connected to our pigeon sport was present, had a stall full of products and/or services to display or recommend to the broad pigeon public. An ideal opportunity for ‘pigeon networking’! The people behind Fugare had taken care of everything perfectly, had a fitting promotion campaign… and that paid off, it clearly ‘warmed’ the public! This was already more than clear on the Saturday morning… and by midday you could literally walk on the heads, and it remained so until closing time. The pathways between the stands were full, the sales of products and materials went like a train. A quick round-up with a few stall holders taught us that the majority had already gone through their entire stock for the weekend in just one day!

A number award ceremonies and a few forums (noviteitenplatform) on the podium enjoyed massive public interest, in other words, the champions being honoured received the necessary attention… and so it should be! The new KBDB-top were also present, led by Chairman Stefaan Van Bockstaele… it must have been heart-warming for them at the beginning of their work with great responsibilities, to see how many people still carry a torch for our pigeon sport, and make it their favourite hobby or leisure activity.

When the stalls closed on Saturday (at 5pm), just before the start of the ‘party evening’ from PiPa and het Duivenblad (wher over more later)… the organisers were still busy counting the entrance tickets, meaning we can’t give you exact numbers… but the organisers informed us that there were at least as many visitors on the Saturday as by the first edition last year.

The ‘Fugare’ exhibition is clearly a success formula, and gradually becoming the showcase for our Belgian pigeon sport! A laudatory example of the fact… that if we join forces to support our sport… the future seems more than assured!
