Can a sneezing problem be solved with enrofloxacin ?
Certainly when the sneezing is not very much, just now and then, then the problem should be solved.
If you have much problems with respiratory problems, may be it is better then to take some swabs to detect which causes your problem.

What disease caused pigeon loss in Malta ?
Have you ever heard of Denagard or Tiamulin to use for respiratory?
Tiamuline is used by chickens for the treatment of airway infections caused by Mycoplasma’s. It can also offer a solution for dangerous problems by pigeons. Dosage: 10 mg per pigeon for the duration of 5 days. Enrofloxacine (baytril) and spiramycine (suanovil) are also good medicines for treating Mycoplasma.
I have a complicated problem with my pigeons which has effected my birds for 2 years
The symptoms you describe such as not flying like it should be, red troat, mouth that is open, etc... are all signs of respiratory diseases.
Respiratory problems can be due to all kind of different pathogens such as herpes virus, staphylococs, e. coli, Chlamydia, Pelistega, etc. Treating against virus is not possible, but treating against the bacterial infections can give very good results.
Depending on what kind of problem there is in your loft, you can give a specific treatment for the problem.
Fungal infections are possible, but we don't see that very much as primary problem.
Those yellow dots can also be due to trichomoniasis, then it is the best to treat against tricho.
In some cases yellow dots are due to Herpes, tricho, yeast, or old abscesses due to respiratory problems, and also sometimes just what we call 'sialolytes", these last ones without having any impact on the prestations of the pigeons.
I should recommend to try to check what the cause is of the problem so you can treat with the right medication.

There are some possibilities for the symptoms you describe both viral or bacterial (or a combination of diseases). Further examination of the birds would be necessary to determine an exact cause. In your case I suspect pigeon herpes virus could be the problem perhaps in combination with another infection. An antibiotic treatment could be of use for bacterial complications. Also a good vaccination schedule for paratyphoid could be of help.

Make sure you pigeons are in top condition, and this means perfect health.
You can be sure your pigeons are in perfect health by some examinations:
**Swab of the crop, searching for tricho
**Dropping analysis
parasites: coccidiosis, wurms
bacteria: salmonella (paratyhus),...
**Swab of the eye, searching for chlamydia
**General impression of the bird: lice, respiratory problems, muscles, swollen wings,...
If you do this frequently, your pigeons will be in perfect health, which means also perfect condition.
Don't give too much medicines, give only medication when necessary, when the pigeons are ill, and you have the right diagnosis, in this way, you won't have problems after a while with resistance,...
To help to stimulate the condition, you can give some vitamines from time to time,

Why are the muscles dark, and how can I treat it?

The lack of oxygen can be due to the loft that is not good ventilated, so there is not enough oxygen in the air of the loft.
Or it can be due to the pigeons theirselves. When they have respiratory problems, they can't take enough fresh oxygen in their body, and so the muscles will be more dark than they should be.
It is very imported to know the cause of being blue in the muscles, once you know that you can do something on it.
Giving regularly some thea based on naturel plants like Colombine, Naturaline and so, are also very good to develop a more pinky muscle.
My pigeons have red throats and lack of condition. What can I do?
Only too often we see a combination of trichomonas with ornithosis problems. Correct diagnosis is required!
You have given treatment with a few products but with no sufficient results. To exclude possible antibiotics resistance among your pigeons, you’d better have an antibiogram composed in order to know which group of antibiotics is most appropriate.
What's the treatment for heavily breathing with open beak?
Amoxycilline is a good product. However it is possible that the bacteria which is present, is resistent to Amoxycilline. If you don't see any good evolution with that product, I would recommand to try Baytril 10 % (2 drops 2 times a day). If you see that
the pigeon's life is in danger, you should give it cortisone to have a better oxygenation of the blood.

Duivenliefhebbers wijten slechte resultaten al te vaak aan luchtwegproblemen en behandelen hun duiven dan ook blindelings met diverse antibiotica. Vaak met teleurstellende resultaten.
Er zijn namelijk heel wat andere redenen van conditieverlies! Laat dus steeds eerst een degelijke diagnose stellen door uw dierenarts!
Dikke koppen zijn een gevolg van luchtwegproblemen. Vaak zien we naast de ‘dikke koppen’ ook een gezwollen en vochtige conjunctiva. Er zijn meerdere factoren die een rol spelen bij ademhalingsproblemen: stress, hoge infectiedruk en omgevingsfactoren. Hiermee moeten we rekening houden bij de behandeling en preventie van het probleem.
Omgevingsfactoren: slechte hokken: tocht en vocht!
Stress: we zien het probleem vaak bij weduwnaars: vechten, wekelijks ingemand en vaak na slechte vluchten (regen en kopwind)
Infectiedruk: kunnen o.a. een rol spelen: Chlamydophila, Staphylococcus int., Mycoplasmen, E. Coli …
Behandeling en preventie: probeer al deze factoren uit te schakelen: zorg voor een droog en goed verlucht hok. Behandel uw duiven na een slechte vlucht met oogdruppels (op basis van antibiotica!). Behandel bij erge problemen met een antibioticakuur. Beste resultaten met doxycycline, tylosine of enrofloxacine. Laat uw dierenarts bepalen welk antibioticum het beste resultaat zal hebben op uw hok .Dit eventueel na het opstellen van een antibiogram.

All the symptoms that you see with your pigeons indicate respiratory problems. If your pigeons had these problems in the season then it is normal that they returned home too late! Problems with the airways are often due to many different causes: a 'multifactor problem'. Several factors can play a role by breathing problems: stress, high infection pressure and surrounding factors. We have to keep this in mind when treating and preventing the problem. Surrounding factors: bad lofts: draughts and humidity! Stress: weekly basketting and often after tough races (rain and head wind) Infection pressure: these can, amongst other things, play a role: Chlamydophila, Staphylococcus int., Mycoplasma, E. Coli … Treatment and prevention: try to exclude all these factors: make sure you have a dry and well ventilated loft. Treat your pigeons after a tough race with eye drops (based on antibiotics!). Treat the more serious problems with a cure of antibiotics. The best results are with doxycycline, tylosin or enrofloxacin. Let your vet decide which antibiotic will achieve the best result in your loft. This could be preceded by an antibiogramme.
A 21 day cure with doxycycline before the season can solve a lot of the problems. It is important that everything mentioned above is in order. If this is not the case then the problem soon returns. A trichomonas contagion is responsible for the fact that the pigeon is more susceptible to secondary airway problems. By contamination, you can treat them at the same time (trichomonas individually with a tablet or powder over the food, antibiotics in the water).
The working of doxycycline is reduced when grit or water containing a lot of lime is consumed. Treatment via the feed, so as you suggest, doesn't really solve this problem. The binding with Ca occurs in the digestive organs. You can do three things: remove the grit during treatment, use demineralised water or increase the dosage

Een eventuele trichomonasbesmetting maakt dat de duif meer kans heeft op secundaire luchtwegproblemen. Bij een besmetting mag je gelijktijdig behandelen (trichomonas individueel met tablet of poeder op het voer, antibioticum in het water). De opname van doxycycline vermindert bij gelijktijdige gritopname of bij kalkhoudend water. De behandeling via het voeder, zoals u voorstelt, lost dit probleem niet echt op. De binding met Ca vindt dan plaats in het spijsverteringstelsel. Je kan 3 zaken ondernemen: grit verwijderen tijdens behandeling, gedemineraliseerd water gebruiken ofwel de dosering verhogen.
