The strain which Louis developed during his longstanding career always guaranteed success, even the greatest pigeon fanciers came to Poppel for top-quality birds. Louis himself always kept it simple. In the United Kingdom there are a number of different unions governing the sport of pigeon racing, the main one being the Royal Pigeon Racing Association. HM the Queen is the patron of the RPRA and maintains a loft of pigeons on her Sandringham Estate, hence the Royal title.

Convoyers are invaluable in pigeon racing, and that is why the Belgian newspaper Het Belang van Limburg, together with pitts.be decided to follow them throughout the weekend to make an objective, uncritical and uncensored report. The goal was to give the pigeon fancier an idea of what happens with their pigeons whilst they are transported to the site where they are released.

The last weekend of April will go down in history as one of the worst weekend racing ever in the UK. Rain and strong North Easterly winds meant that many races were held over from Saturday till Monday. One such organisation was the British International Championship Club. This club organises the International race programme for the UK and has a series of National races.
